Inability to make in-game adjustments to the original game plan. The Jets were to predictable on the offensive side of the ball in the 2nd half constantly running on 1st and 2nd downs. I thought that 3rd and 8 run the Jets did in the first half really set the tone for this. They played as if they were afraid to make mistakes. They did not play to win the game, they played not to lose it.
Against a high flying offense like Peyton Manning and the Colts, you are going to need to atleast attempt to have some sort of consistancy in the passing attack game; the Jets did not. They were too focused on the run and too conservative in the play calling. If i were Rex Ryan, I would be a little sick right now thinking back on how he and the staff called this game. You get very few chances to go after a Super Bowl in your professional career and the Jets had one here and as far as I'm concerned they wasted it.

I see it differently. The Jets played great with gadget plays and everything. They even ran the ball well against the colts.
Here is what I think the 2 game changing events were:
The penalty for having 12 men on the field against the Jets gave Indianapolis a first down after the Jets stopped them on their own 10 yard line. Peyton then marched down the field for points.
The other game changer was the no-call for roughing the passer when Sanchez was knocked on his ass a good 2 or 3 seconds after throwing the ball. Again, this happened on third down.

The turning point was when the Jets decided to kick a 50+ yd FG with 17-13 lead in the 3rd qtr. Their kicker couldn't make a 47 yd kick earlier what made Ryan think he can make a longer FG.
The Colts took the lead with the short field and never look back.

I couldnt agree more..... Even though I would like to throw in the play before the half... The seem route to Collie.... The Jets Defender had it covered PERFECTLY..... The mistimed jump??? That leads to a 47yard gain!! That guy has to make that play!!!

To beat the Colts you need a great D, as jets have but you need an O as well and that is something that Jets dont got. I had the Jets+7.5 and it sucked to see how they blewed that comfartable halftime lead yesterday.

Shonne Green not playing in the second half was a huge loss for the Jets. That is how they beat the Chargers, by running the ball on first and second down.

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME
I totally agree with you, they played to not lose, you have to put points up on the board when you go into Indy, you cannot beat them 17-13, and as far as the roughing the passer being a changer, I disagree. I don't agree with any penalty not being called that had nothing to do with the outcome of the play being a game changer. PI or holding, completely different. They ran their play it was unsuccessful, the roughing the passer had nothing to do with them having to punt. But that's exactly our point, The Jets need shyt like that to have a chance. The Colts were clearly just the better team, and colts -5.5 the second half was a gift. No way Manning was losing to Sanchez at home.

Couldnt agrre more coming from a jets fan greene's 4 or 5 yard gains turned into jones's 1 to 2 yard gains
