If you guys remember, the Raiders beat the Chiefs 20-14 in week 16.
A game in which Aiden O'Connell didn't have a completion after the first quarter.
The Raiders ran the ball 29 times for 157 yards.
In a season where the Ravens led the league in rush attempts per game, Monken decided to handoff to his running backs only 6 times.
Too scared of Mahomes and how fast they scored? Thinking he had to go blow for blow? In the meantime, he didn't notice that his own defense was stopping Mahomes and the Chiefs from mid 2nd quarter to the end of the game.

Without question this was one of the most horribly coached football games I’ve ever seen. Why didn’t Harbaugh intervene and tell the OC that they had to change the approach? Harbaugh has a pretty good reputation as a coach but maybe it’s time to rethink that. What that coaching staff did was miles worse than what Dan Campbell did.

I was going to give Monken a lot of credit this season for improving this offense, but he ended up doing a Greg Roman impersonation of his own at the end.. The Georgia Bulldog juice finally ran out.
Can't believe the shortsightedness of their game plan yesterday. You run to keep Mahomes off the field and to combat the blitz. no matter how much we may think Chiefs have struggled all season they were showing signs they were turning it up in the playoffs albeit against hobbled defenses. And the Ravens had their full compliment of players and still couldn't get the job done at home.
I don't know how many more opportunities Ravens in this current regime will get to play in these AFC championship games but this might have been their best chance. AFC is a tough conference it was a bit of a down year in terms of competition but they were still far and away the better conference than NFC and it will get tougher next year. If Burrow and Rodgers can play a full season and Jim Harbaugh coming in to turn around the Chargers will make the field even more challenging. There is no guarantee Lamar will stay healthy again for a full season. They really blew their chance. Once Lamar gets into his early 30's his window will be tough

In reference to the KC/ Raiders game- as sports fans/bettors we have a bad habit of expecting the coaches to learn from their mistakes. Use the NFC title game as a perfect example. After last weeks Green Bay /49ers game, and Kyle Shanahan having his defense completely dissected, he walks that same soft zone, non-blitzing defense back out onto the field against an even better offense. Same exact result as the week before. he seemed to finally realized what was happening late in the game, but why does it even need to get to that point? Do you think after watching all the tape from the previous games that they know what they’re doing wrong. Apparently not.

Was a shocking change in game planning.......
1 15 yard run by Edwards..
5 other carries for 5 yards....combined..by the RB's.....The team ran for 170 yards a game

Hate to say it Bigred. I don't think Lamar can deliver us to the promiseland. Maybe we might get a Super Bowl out of him someday, as in an appearance, but might cost us a perfect super bowl 2-0 record

Perhaps Monken was ordered by the NFL Swifters to abandon their run game?
The Ravens were the only team all season long to run the ball more than pass, so the run/pass numbers in yesterday's game makes absolutely no sense, unless there is information being hidden in shady backroom deals between the puppetmaster and the puppets.
While watching the game, I saw Mahomes blatantly doing things to not score and extend their lead...as if he was muzzled by something/someone
In the end, KC will draw better #s with the soccer moms and their top 40 music listening daughters than Baltimore would have.
The Purple SB Logo betting angle turned out to be a pump and dump ponzi scheme for all the conspiracy social media clickbaiters...or will that be now spun towards the Gatorade color being purple,,,
Zay Flowers "Look at Me Football" is the epitome of his lost generation of selfish, self centered, narcissistic society of modern day social media wannabe stars.
Van Noy's headbutt personal foul was in my opinion the turning point of the game, it lead to the entire team's unraveling...if he keeps his cool, I believe it's 2nd and 10 on the KC ten yard line with all the momentum riding on the Ravens superior D.

Extremely befuddling why they gave up on the run. 6 rushing attempts is crazy. Game was only a 2 score game. The only time they ran routes to the sideline they had big plays. Everything else was just flat crossing patterns. Horrible gameplan.

They thought they would blow them out. The chiefs adopted the ravens philosophy as I expected. 13 personnel and said try to stop me…while running 9minutes off the clock, keeping the ravens high potent offense on the sidelines. They adopted what the ravens should’ve been doing. 82% of plays were drop backs. Highest in Lamar’s career.
Mahomes threw more but in situations where the defense thought they might run. Ravens were trailing and were very predictable.

Just to think, that most of the top end qb's reside in the afc. And Mahomes owns all of them until he one day he won't. Brady got him once as a Patriot. Burrow once with the Bengals. Poor Josh Allen had fought him tooth n nail and always came up short.
It kind of feels like all those great NBA teams of the 90's who could of been championship caliber, but Michael Jordan always stood in the way.
Last year I started a thread that discusses the importance of balance in play calling. And how defenses have been built to stop the pass for quite some time now.
Everyone wants to eat just the frosting on the cake, but it's not the only part of the cake, that makes the cake.

Chris Jones is a monster inside for them...
Chris Jones had a million dollar bonus in his contract if the Chiefs made it back to the Super Bowl. I was told this at my buddy’s watch party in KC yesterday. I need to find out if he gets more cash with a W. Chris Jones is the best DL in the game currently. When a play needs to be made, he makes it. If we all remember he held out this summer, didn’t play in the opener and Chiefs lost, gave him $10M more after that loss. That is who Chris Jones is. He also lines up at DE as well.

I hope that you are just being sarcastic about the Taylor Swift stuff. It has no relevance whatsoever to the game played on the field. To those who don't understand why their bets lost, sure, they'll grasp at straws to feel self validation that it wasn't their own responsibility when placing the bet and hitting submit.

@undermysac Without question this was one of the most horribly coached football games I’ve ever seen. Why didn’t Harbaugh intervene and tell the OC that they had to change the approach? Harbaugh has a pretty good reputation as a coach but maybe it’s time to rethink that. What that coaching staff did was miles worse than what Dan Campbell did.

Sure looks like the ravens threw the game. even the people who mock the ones who think it is scripted would have a hard time explaining that gameplan as being legit. Harbaugh and company are not dumb, yet they decided to not use their strength against a team that can be run on.

Funny you mention that. On the flipside, I didn't see the Ravens run 12 personal at all. That would of put Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews on the field at the same time. I believe they played the same TE position and took turns subbing each other. I'm not 100% sure of this, only watched the game once.
Felt like they went with a lot of 4 and 5 wr sets throughout the game.

I'm part of the Taylor Troll brigade and will continue to mock the conspiracy clowns, I know it's all nonsense,,,however no one can deny there is a huge psychological aspect in play of how it has to have impacted all of the Chiefs opponents and getting in their heads regarding Kelce & Company as this momentum train has just witnessed KC roll into the finals.
It's like Macho Man has brought Miss Elizabeth to ringside as his manager and all of his opponents become enraged with jealousy and forget how to perform the most basic arm bar or drop kick because the women in their lives are all fat, lazy, ugly and broke and it's all they can think about

He panicked and abandoned the run game too early in a game that was actually a lot closer than it probably felt to him.
Guess he forgot how to coach

Yet they cut to swift constantly over and over, like she is a member of team. Its crazy to think nfl wants a whole new group of fans tuning in and buying merchandise, almost seems like a business.
