Why do I feel like "they" are begging you to take Phil with this line?
About 25 years ago, I was studying the NFL Monday night odd's line at a Vegas casino. The line favored a very bad team who hadn't won one single game... versus an average team with about equal wins and losses.
I said to the guy standing next to me, what do you make of that line on the side bet (straight bet), he said 'they want you to take the average team getting the points, rather than the loser team that is favored and laying the points...he said 'when it looks too good to be true, it is, so what you do is jump to the other side.' Then he walked up to the window and bet the lousy team that was the favorite that week...and that team won by 10 and covered.
If you feel they are doing that in this contest, his advice would be to take Chicago and lay the points. Is this way bulletproof, no.
Of course any moment now, there will be a poster that will chime in about how the line is set to get equal action on both sides thus assuring the casino of the juice. Of course sports' directors of casinos have stated publicly that they do indeed take a stand on some lines knowing full well which side the public will pound. Anyways, thought I would share that moment in time...
