There is no doubt in my mind that what I said above is true. Numbers are just that ..........Look at Wins and Championships ......Those are what matter. Jordan Was The Bulls. He had a good supporting cast and Great Role Players, but without him, they could not get it done. If he had not had his midlife crisis, been dealing with his father passing, and having been involved with gambling and the underworld, he would have had 8 Championships in a Row. Being from Chicago and watching Money Mike many times, it's sad to think about. He led his team to the most wins by a NBA team in History....a record that may not be broken, at least for a long time. This is if the league does not get watered down and one team just plays the Yankee's and dominates, but as we can see by looking out West this year, this is far from true :)
Back on track here.....Jordan was more than a Dominant Offensive Player, who in his earlier years, Dominated the Rim, to his money fading jump shot as he got older. He was a Excellent Defender! Kids nowadays forget what Defense is and that is why Mike will be the GREATEST for a LONG time. Jordan was marketable and for the most part kept himself clean and out of jail. He was a son-of-a-bitch to play with, but would you expect less when the Greatest wants you to be the Greatest? Look at how he made his Teammates better, once he discovered he can't win it all by himself (well....for the most part, he just needed to trust others).
What about playing for money? He played for nothing until his final years. Didn't he deserve it? He let the BULLS make a TON of money to get him players and because HE LOVED THE GAME! That had to be the best thing about him, He LOVED the Game and Played with Fierce Intensity.
Bob Cousy is probably the only other player I could think of that I would LOVE to build a team around. Yes, he's from a different era, but he played point guard like no other. Did you know he was French? His 6 Championship teams are just as good as Mike's, difference in my mind though, Mike could have had 8....
I am running out of time or I could just ramble on, but the bottom line is, I don't care about all these numbers. Kids don't even go to college anymore. If Lebron went to college for 4 years, this would be his Rookie season. Alot of kids don't learn how to win or how to be Champions. When you go through the Ranks and Win on a consistent basis, you just learn how to win. When a player can come up with as many Championships while dominating the league on both ends of the floor, then we can have a discussion on this topic. Till then, lets see if Kobe can win one by himself or if Lebron can string a few together. He Looks ready to go, but will need a few more pieces of the puzzle to complete the task. You don't want to end up the Denver or Buffalo in the NBA .......get to the BIG dance and can't win.
