I was going to fade the Knicks here too, but the number is not as inflated as I hoped. It's -5.5 at my book, and I was expecting 7. Not much value here. The Lakers are TERRIBLE and six "big ones" is nothing for a team this bad. Still, nice writeup, I'd take LA if I had to.

Those are 'big ones' and the Lakers would never be catching 7 against the Knicks simply because they are a national favorite.
Before 62, the Knicks lost to the Sixers, Nets and Clippers at home (two in blowouts) and then got blown out by the Pacers and lost by ten to the very same Bobcats (setting up the revenge game at home).
Now they are laying 5.5/6 when they lost the previous 5 before the 62 by and average of 15.
AND this is an afternoon game to boot, where the Knicks typically get crushed this year...
If much rather have seen the Knicks win by 30 with a balanced scoring attack than one player scoring 62 if I were to back the Knicks today.

You always do this to me scal. WHY? I dont touch knicks games at all, but the one post new york vs nets where I read your write up and had me convinced, was the day i started to tail you. Once again i stayed away from this game, but i seen the start time around 3, so as I went to sleep i kinda prayed that scal would come up with something for this game because i was not going to go in at all at this game. But you sir, is a great asset to this forum

Lakers it is
Yes! Until they prove otherwise, against ANYONE, the Knicks are a fade at home in afternoon games. And that doesn't even address everything I had to say about the Lakers and Knicks respectively.
I don't know it it's their biorhythms being off or what but they are a different team in the afternoon. I expect better today and it should be close but 5.5/6 should be enough.
If I were Dolan, I'd petition the league to end these afternoon games at MSG. LLLL this year and it's only halfway through...

Man, I gotta give it to you, still posting big (and logical) write-ups to what has become a whiner-infested pissing contest last few years here. People should remember when Lawson called out his team and then they went and won away @GSW. And if they think for a minute that there wasn't partying for 62 then they're all wrong and alot of games are lost because of lack of focus and energy.
And besides, even if Lakers fail to cover, there should still be laid out plans to fade them (and Clips) first game back from the roadie.

If you keep checking your book before tip I'm convinced you will see it at 6 for a little while there. It'll just take a dozen time to catch it if you want it.
Bovada has it at -6 -115 (but I should not that is a dog's bettors paradise" book...they had the Seahawks at +3 -110 earlier in the week. Can't find that anywhere else...)

I used to be part of the pissing matches in general discussion and found more productive ways to allocate my time to this forum.

Thx for all you do scal. love the write up and reasoning as always. GL with this one
No problem. This game was a challenge to cap as mentioned but I figured a line of -3/-3.5 tops before the Cats but then came 62 and you can get -6. Inflated line means only one side is the play ...

I hear what your saying, but NYK were playing so bad before that huge win against Char. I think NYK wake up. LAL just lost to ORL man... Metta World Peace might even play with his good D

Suns crush the Pacers and then lose to the Wizards at home the very next game...
It's a league of swings man...
Another Example:
Knicks lost to the Sixers at home and came out pissed off against a better bobcat team and won by 30.
If they won the Orlando game, the line would be worse and I likely wouldn't have seen a prime spot for a bounceback with LA...

You keep harping on line value. Don't see it. Knicks entering the Bobcats was on a 5 game losing streak and they were still -4.5. Cats are a much better team so the line is fair.

Scal, love your write-ups! I agree with many points you brought up in your great writeup. However, Pringles (the most egotistical, stubborn coach in the league) has announced he will play Ryan Kelly on Melo. Again, this is the same coach who complains the lakers are having defensive problems yet continues to run and start boneheaded rotations that are strictly geared towards stretch floor run/gun and chuck 3's (which obviously lead to easy transitions for opposing teams). If Melo does not ABUSE this matchup then he is a total fraud. Im gonna sit this one out and hope my Lakers tank on! GL
