As a baseball fan first and gambler a close second, I went to sleep last night slightly disgusted, as I had a large swing on the Reds with them trailing 5-3 in the 7th. I had thought this one of the easiest games in a while and had expected them to chase Lopez by the fourth or fifth, scoring early, often, and then crushing the weak D-back bullpen...
To wake this morning and read the highlights much to my glee, it was even better to read of the creativity of Dusty Baker. A squeeze play with Edmunds? Does it get better than this? This makes for an even better and far more compelling season than I remember in some time. It's a joy to watch a team with heart, brawn, and intelligence prevail.
I find myself constantly rooting for teams for various reasons, including the Padres for their rotation, the Braves for Cox (though I think he's over-rated, look at his WS record,) the Rays for their hard play, the Yankees for the humility, the Phillies for their tenacity, and LaRussa for his brain, yet this year, I must say, I have officially have hopped on the Reds bandwagon.
