Guys - major rumors about the most popular sportsbook for MLB for Americans.
Do some reading.
Just out of curiousity, why are places like Pinny and Matchbook worried about violating United States law? Are their owners American? Why don't any of these other offshore places care about American law. I was under the impression that US law had no jurisdiction in these areas and the only REAL obstacle for us Americans was funding our accounts.
Could someone way smarter than me please explain ?
Thanks.

The rumor is that the new owners are a larger European group, with already established licensed books.
Look - you are correct in your assessment above - but the US has come after book operators randomly, and almost all European books dont take US customers because of it. Carruthers and Cohen spent time in jail, and Im sure that is enough for bigger more established groups to not take the chance. They take a wait and see attitude - because if it is legalized or even semi-legalized here - the ones that behaved well and didnt take on the US when it was illegal will have a crack at getting licensed.
Pinnacle was a whole different story, from what I understand they were under direct attack because of credit group busts.
It is a real shame.

Betfair is not open to the US.
And for all the good things Betfair is, they are also expensive commssionwise - especially for rec players. They start at 5% and work discounts for volume. One of the reasons MB was so good for rec players.
Unless something changes, I am not betting MLB this season. I will watch and wait as I think it is likely that you will see a startup exchange fill the void - but I dont know how it can take hold fast enough for this season.

I am getting in no problem.
They will pay everyone. It wont be convenient, but everyone is getting paid.
