Indians Acquire: Trevor Bauer, Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw
DBacks Acquire: SS Didi Gregorius, Tony Sipp and 1B Lars Anderson
Well...the DBacks are determined to get a shortstop but I don't know too much about Gregorius. From what I've seen...he was the #6 prospect for the Reds and he may not be cemented at SS as he can play second too. And I don't understand the addition of Lars Anderson with Goldschmidt manning 1st. I feel like the DBacks gave away Trevor Bauer.

sparky i agree i reported in july that bauer and or skaggs would be the pieces needed to get King Felix to the desert. Bauer with the way he works out with the long toss and such wore thin there. Plus he pissed the wrong people off. We need to get keyelement in here as he would know better than us

BTW messier is correct as the owner stated publicly he had given up on Bauer So after that statement you were gonna get a bag of balls for him. They knew he threw the 8 different pitches, the foul pole long tossing and all of that stuff and drafted him anyway. So with this trade they admitted they wasted the #3 pick in the draft

You Rang, Master? I could go volumes on these subjects but I won't. I was personally never as high on Bauer as some folks were and was not surprised he wasn't taken until the third round. Others must have thought so too or he wouldn't have been available. It was not a wasted pick though because you have to realize that less than 5% of the high school, juco and major college players signed to pro contracts will ever play a major league game. No bull, it really is that competitive. It is even surprising when one teams #1 pick year after year winds up in MLB. I don't think it is a bad deal for the Indians as they are willing to take a chance on any "name" player as long as he is dirt cheap. This kind of acquisition lets them tell the fans they are really trying to build the roster without admitting that it must be done on the cheap.
The D-backs are just spinning their wheels. What they would really like to have at short is a-ten-years-younger-and-healthier Willie Bloomquist, but that ain't gonna happen, is it? Gregorius? Well, I dunno, give the guy a chance, but I don't get too excited about these deals until we see how they work out.
Sipp might be OK, but Anderson will be added to the trade bait pool. Goldschmidt probably has 1st base locked up for the foreseeable future.
Personally, I still see a 50-50 team down here in the intercoursing desert, but the reason I say that is that although the team is fundamentally sound, they have no studs that can go head-to-head with the best starters in the N.L. West (yes, Miley contended for ROY, but this year he is a known commodity. Sophomore jinx?). The staff is capable on any given day, but when push comes to shove the top guns in the west will put their stamp on this team. Giants, Dodgers - D-backs and Padres to fight it out for third, Rockies a disaster. jmho.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

If anything Reds ran away with this deal. Choo will hit 20+ home runs in that park, plus he has a cannon from right field(probably be in left due to Bruce). Donald will be a great twice a week guy to give some infielders a rest, definitely a nice piece to the bench.

Choo is so underrated. Great player and great pick up.
Dbacks gave away Bauer for a reject SS prospect who is a defensive specialist with little offensive game.
I think Keyelement either misspoke or mistyped. Bauer was the 3rd overall pick in the draft he was not drafted 3rd round. I also know a few scouts who said they would have taken Bauer before Gerrit Cole.
The GM was not a fan of Bauer and could not wait to get him out of Zona. Who knows the real reason why but there is no chance it was just the 16 innings he threw in the majors and didnt do well. From reading things it sounds like this was the reason he was traded
1- Resistant to coaching
2- Inability to maintain the velocity he showed in college.
3- His approach against MLB hitters was poor. (He tried to get them to chase pitches out of the zone)
Seems like Bauer has his mind made up
about how he wants to go about things and doesnt listen to his coaches, catchers, etc. He will disregard catcher pitch calls and throw what he wants. Character seems to be the reason Towers wanted him out. If you arent going to fall in line and listen to the coaches etc then you are out no matter how talented.

Cinci and Cleveland are the winners in this deal. Cinci gets a CF and good top of the order bat in Choo and the Indians get pitching.
Dbacks trade one of the top pitching prospects in the game and 3rd overall pick (and multi million dollar investment) for a SS who is a defensive wiz but little else and Lars, once promising prospect of the Red Sox who happens to play 1st like Goldschmidt
Dbacks have a ton of pitching prospects so they could afford to trade Bauer but still think they sold him for way too little.

Sorry, I did let my fingers get ahead of my brain on Bauer 3rd pick vs 3rd round, my bad. Your #3 regarding Bauer is pretty close to the mark. He is (in Towers and Gibson's opinion) difficult to work with and responds poorly to the catchers. If a rookie starter won't listen to Miguel Montero what are you gonna do? I am reminded of when my son started his first high school varsity game. He shook off his catcher twice in a row and the coach called time and was out there in a flash. Problem settled. No more shake offs that game. What the coach told him was pretty simple, "When you are a senior pitcher you can shake off sophomore catchers, but sophomore pitchers NEVER shake off a senior catcher".

Wow Reds got a great deal, they finally got the leadoff hitter they wanted. Shin-Soo Choo is so under rated. Love this pick up for the Reds, it just makes them even better offensively, wow. Not to mention Choo can hit homeruns. He will do well next year, great pick up.

Key Element is a legend. Always looking forward to his insight as well. Cheers Packers!

Key-
Wade Miley
ought to be a force to recognize with. From what I have heard and seen on
Padres broadcast, specifically from
Mark Grant, Is that he is built like a Left handed Matt Cain, ready
to go 9 innings every time he gets the ball. Plus he had a few starts at the end of 2011 so that might reverse your jinx.
