Blue Confidence Record 67-41-1 (62.037%)
Went 3-1 yesterday, not a bad day, but we're still looking for a blue chip sweep day, and well I'm confident that we'll soon reach that point. Here are the games that I like for tomorrow August the 12th 2009. I'm going to split up my write-ups because there is a lot to talk about.
Toronto @ New York
The Pick: New York -1.5
For the sake of value I'm going to just take the run line. The Yankees have always been pretty over-priced, but with A.J. Burnett tomorrow I'd be confident enough to rock the line fearless of what might happen. Toronto has had some hitting ability lately, and tomorrow starting Romero that might actually have a chance, or so it may seem on paper. I know a lot of people are going to fade this play of mine. Toronto, a +225 dog will once again take on the challenge of trying to take the New York Yankees. Heres why I say they fail, and they fail by two runs tomorrow. On paper this match-up looks pretty evenly matched, almost identical. Both pitchers at 10-5 with 3.67, 3.66 ERAs both with a WHIP 1.37. Don't be fooled guys, this is no evenly matched game what so ever. Tomorrow when A.J Burnett goes against his former teammates he'll know what he's done, and he might even know the extent of what Romero has done. Burnett started the season 4-3, starting 12 times, and gaining an ERA of 4.89. But after the loss to Boston in early June A.Js really turned his game around. Burnett has given up more than three runs only once over his last 10 outings to go 6-2 with a 2.32 ERA -- a figure that would be much lower if he hadn't allowed seven runs over 4 2/3 innings of a 14-4 loss at Chicago on Aug. 1. After that A.J came back, and pitched seven and 2/3s innings and only allowed one hit to beat up the Red Sox in a 15 inning war.So do A.Js numbers do him justice? I'd say not. On the other hand Romero the rookie who is also 10-5 will do his best to lead Toronto to a win. But I see this as doubtful. Look I know what most people think, Romero has been hot, but it's only illusion. Let me elaborate. Ricky Romero has actually cooled off a bit, the opposite of A.J since the beginning of this year. He started out killing' going 7-3 with a 3.00 ERA, and only allowing 3+ runs more than twice. But as of late it seems he's been in a little rut. First he lost to a struggling Baltimore (who hasn't won a series since the all star break) 7-5. In four of the five last starts Romero has given up at least four runs, he has a 5.65 ERA. Look I'll say this, If you can't take Baltimore at home, you're not going to be able to the Yankees in New York. The reasoning is similar to, if you couldn't pick up the ginormous Big Bertha Fat cow of a girl sitting at the bar what makes you think your good enough to be the cock banging Paris Hilton? You got me? A.J Burnett and the Yanks shut these birds down tomorrow. Watch, and learn.
