15 points is a lot of chalk for a team that has the #1 quarterback in the conference. The word is still out on whether Brett Smith will play or not Saturday, but the freshman backup looked good against Air Force last week. I'll take the points here.

Fresno State coach Tim DeRuyter was not invited. Not to this meeting. No members of the Bulldogs coaching staff were allowed. This one was just for players. A couple of days after Fresno State suffered a defeat to nemesis Boise State and lost for the first time in Mountain West Conference play, a few seniors gathered teammates for the meeting. It served a few purposes: To not let the emotional loss linger any further and to establish a new goal of finishing the season on a 5-0 run going into a bowl. GameDay: Fresno State vs. Wyoming "This season isn't over," senior linebacker Travis Brown said. "We've got a lot to play for. We've got a lot to be excited about. We just wanted to make sure we're all on the same page. The main priority was to get over [(Boise State)]. We're not here to point fingers or make excuses. "We're going to win the next five. That's everyone's mindset. That said, we've got to take it one week at a time." It starts at 7:30 p.m. today, with Fresno State (4-3, 2-1) hosting Wyoming (1-5, 0-2) while trying to remain undefeated at Bulldog Stadium. Should Fresno State pull off a 5-0 run, the Bulldogs would have nine regular-season wins for the first time since 2001, be in position to play a bowl with an appealing destination (can you say Las Vegas, San Diego or Hawaii?) and maybe still have a chance at the Mountain West title. Wyoming doesn't figure to make today easy for Fresno State, which is 6-5 since 2001 in games after playing Boise State. In fact, don't be surprised if the game is close. The Cowboys have been involved in five games decided by a touchdown or less. Two of their games have gone into overtime. The last time Fresno State and Wyoming met, they went into double overtime at the 2009 New Mexico Bowl. The Cowboys prevailed 35-28, most notably stopping the Bulldogs four straight times from the 1 during the first overtime. Fresno State has 10 players remaining who participated in that New Mexico Bowl. "I've been looking forward to playing Wyoming actually ever since I found out we were moving to the Mountain West," said Bulldogs senior running back Robbie Rouse. "We lost to them in that bowl game, and I felt we should've won that game. "They've got a good team still. I'm excited for (today). We've still got a lot of season ahead of us and can do stuff we haven't done for a while." Fresno State has won all three games at Bulldog Stadium while averaging 52.7 points and 611.7 total yards. "We're trying to stay undefeated at home," DeRuyter said. "We know it's going to be a challenge. ... If we want to have any chance at winning the conference, we cannot afford another loss. We don't control our own destiny. We've got to win out, and it starts with Wyoming."
