Put in my above spread, Oregon minus 20 points, before the
Vegas line came out. Now, they come in here and tack on
another point-and-a-half. I'll have to make a fast adjustment.
And none of this "Gold Sheet" crap! My Gold Sheet not out
until late tonight. I'll post their analysis on this game by
Wednesday night...along with USC vs. UCLA.
But Gold Sheets and so-called "Vegas Lines" not needed
here!
I don't like the idea of people running around playing games with Oregon. They even had the nerve to place my Oregon in 3rd place on the BCS Standings, knowing full well and clear that Oregon is the best there is...and the best there ever will be!
70% of all Oregon players will be going to the NFL! And their superstar QB Marcus Mariota rates right up there with John Elway, Terry Bradshaw, Johnny Unitas, Warren Moon, Roger Staubach, Joe Theisman, Joe Montana and Peyton Manning all rolled into one!
They are the only college team I've seen that could launch a warp speed attack...and actually take out the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning!

Watched oregon vs. cal and usc. Gaping holes for any team patient enough to run run run the ball. Stanford is patient enough, and also has a good passing attack. Oregon has 7, thats right 7 injuries on defense. All four starting defensive linemen for oregon are out. Kenyan barner is dinged up for oregon also.
Give me a break about comparing mariota too elway, montana etc. he throws 10 yard swing passes, hes a good qb but you're absolutely off your rocker comparing him to all time nfl greats. Oregon has absolutely incredible speed, and plays with ridiculous tempo, but stanford kids aren't stupid and neither are the coaches. This team will be ready to go.
I will wait and see on the line. I like stanford here but i actually think it may get pushed up even more. Oregon have been ats gods lately so i see no reason why it wouldnt get pushed up. 21.5 is just too many for a very flawed defense.

If I were you degengambler34, I would take those 20.5 points as fast as possible! That line is dropping like a rock!
I saw Baltimore's line drop from 9.5 all the way down to 7! Then, Seattle's line dropped from 7 to 5.5! I think they did that because everyone was jumping on the favorites. But both Balimore and
Seattle went on to win with big blowouts!
I'll post the Gold Sheet's analysis tonight. They agree with everyoneabout Oregon's so-called "banged up defense." But who? Where? Am I missing something?
The only significant current injury I could find is Dion Jordan, and he's just questionable for Saturday's game. Any other injured players have
had no impact whatsoever on Oregon's wins.
"Comparing" a quarterback to the NFL greats is not the same as a simple rating, as I said in my post. Rating and comparing have two complete different meanings.
I would have said the same thing as far as USC's Matt Barkley (2972 YDs and 33 TDs), Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel (2780 YDs and 18 TDs) and Alabama's A.J. McCarron (2158 YDs and 20 TDs).
Obviously, a "freshman quarterback" can't be compared to Brett Favre's 71,838 YDs, Dan Marino's 61,361 YDs, Peyton Manning's 54,828+ YDs, John Elway's 51,475 YDs, Drew Bledsoe's 44,611+ YDs, or Joe Montana's 40,551 YDs.
Probably just semantics, but it'll take those freshman quarterbacks another 20 years to even come close to those numbers!

Wait for the over in this game. If it's about the 64.5 that's opened in some places, then POUND THE SHIT OUT OF IT! It should go nearly over the in just 1 half of the game.
This may be a closer game than some may think. But out of Stanford and Oregon St, I think that Oregon St. will keep it close with the in state rival thing.
Last year Oregon won by 23 points and that was with Luck. This year's Stanford team isn't as good but still good.

Oh with Stanford's run game. You can ONLY run the ball so much until your opponent has taken a good lead on you. Then you NEED to switch up the game plan and play pass happy to keep up which Stanford has shown they can do but they're not as good as scoring points as Oregon.

Looks like they let anyone with a computer and a bold button post in this forum. Good stuff.
LOL You are right about my posts InVegas. I'm new to this site, and everytime I try to post in tiny letters, they either can't be seen, or the lines are all broken up.
Had no idea that post would be 3 feet long! Will keep trying to get my posts right

#14 vs #3 and its 21.5 pts? thats a bit much dont you think pls help me out here.
Good questions handzdown. I've posted the Gold Sheet's analysis on this game, but have made major changes in my game plan on this one!
Gold Sheet's Pick:
Stanford 27 at Oregon 42 "Since Stanford's special 6-4 RS frosh QB Ryan Hogan (22 of 29 for 254 YDs, 3 TDP & 49 YR vs. tough Oregon St. "D") executing like a seasoned star, believe balanced Card attack (16 pass, 15 rushing TDs) keeps U of O's "blur" offense idling for
extended periods. Stanfords veteran, stout front 7 (leads nation in run "D" at 2.2 ypc) might limit Ducks' "explosive" run plays, while banged-up Oregon secondary somewhat vulnerable to The Tree's expanding vertical attack.
Stanford is 3-0 as underdog TY and 14-3 vs. spread away since 2010."
Because of your question handzdown, and the other excellent analysis from all of the above posters, I made the decision not to try and be a "hero".
Too many unanswered questions about Oregon's defense and the hugh 20.5 points. Some posters here have made the wise decision to just go with the over/under with this game.
I'm not going with Oregon straight up, but will use them on a 4-Team Parlay with USC -3.5 over UCLA, Miami-Ohio +3.5 over Central Michigan and Indianapolis Colts +10 over New England.
Thanks for everyone's logical analysis on this game, and BOL to all!

might not matter now in this crappy conference, but it will come january
that is if they get in the championship game of course

PAC15 or whatever conference is terrible but you cant keep giving a top team in a lesser conference all these points. Eventually someone figures it out. They have yet to play a very physical team yet. IM sorry there wont be a duck national champion this year. Ore gets alabama'd this week. Watch everyone drop and bama sneaks back into ncs ship. Fla st syndrome anyone? Stan and OV for the SUPER LARGE!!!!

DrDogs I don't think Stanford will be able to outscore Oregon. To say that Stanford will cover is a possibility but to say that win outright is ludicrous.

Be careful betting on the OVER.. There is an 80% chance of heavy rain with winds up to 20 mph during the game. It doesn't matter if Oregon is used to the shitty weather...Rain is rain and wind is wind...It will affect the passing game and traction. Oregon rely on so much speed especially on offense that the lack of traction might throw them off. This might give the Standford defense an advantage because the receivers will need to make their cuts and if there is no traction, then there's a problem.
