Since West Virginia's beatdown of Maryland last year of 45-27, in which the Terps fell behind 28-0 in the first quarter, the turtles have been waiting a while to seek their revenge and try to re-gain some respect. Being that these two teams won't meet again until the year 2010, what better time than now to get some back. WV leads the overall series 22-21-2. Turnovers last year were very costly to the Maryland team and it was like they had stage fright from being in front of a nationally televised audience.
This year, the Terps have put the embassasment and past behind them and I can assure you that they are extremely focused on a much better performance. Maryland will mix up their running and passing just enough to keep WV from being able to stack the line and blitz a lot. Marylands defense is ranked first in the ACC and 7th nationally. The Terps also lead the nation in time of possession this year which will leave their defense well rested for the 3rd and fourth quarters where WV usually and has excelled this year. Maryland also has a lot of depth on their defensive side which I think will prove to be a huge advantage for them in keeping the game very close. WV has also allowed 23 points to 8 straight opponents dating back to last season.
WV has a few key players out and that are questionable for this game too. Included in those are LB Adrian Sims and Reciever Nate Somers. Both of them have hamstring injuries. Defensive nose guard Keilen Dykes is also questionable because of a sprained foot.
The weather on Thursday night is supposed to be slightly below 70 degrees with a little cloud cover and a very slight chance of precipitation so I don't see that being a factor as far as causing a lot of turnovers.
My opinion in this game is that WV will probably win but I do not think it will be a run-away ballgame of any sort. I believe that Maryland will score several times and with the points they are getting, should create us a payday playing them.
My play is:
Maryland+16 2 units
Good luck to all that is with me!!

I agree Natural. However, I like to tease and I am placing a little icying on my cake.
3 Team (10pt) teaser:
Maryland +26
Florida +3
Navy +3
This will bring the MONEY!!

Sounds pretty good mr6 but just be careful of the Navy game in the teaser. I believe I'd rather have either Louisville or Ga Tech at +4 in there to take their place. That's just my humble opinion but good luck however you play it brother!!

I agree with the maryland pick, I thought they'd be one of the upset teams this year. There D is good and they have alot of skill players and 26 is alot of points. However I haven't seen them play this year and I was wondering if you knew anyting about their QB, Jordan Steffy? Also, I know they lost an OT to ineligibility. How is the rest of their O-line?

I'm with you on Maryland.
I don't think you need to tease the gators. Tenn was trashed by Cal and the Gators are going to make it ugly for Tenn -
Last season the home underdogs covered nearly 70% of the time on national television (ESPN games).
Lets all have a great week!

steel420, the best I can tell about Marylands QB Jordan Steffy is that he's pretty descent. He's 37 for 49 in passing with an average of 155 passing pards per game. He has thrown 1 interception with no TD passes this year but I am hoping that stat will change here very soon! As for their Offensive line, they are some pretty big boys with experience behind them. They all look to average in height between the 6'4" to 6'6" range so they should offer some good protection to get some plays off.

What is wrong with you guys? Maryland got blown out last year. They also have played two division I-AA teams the pasted two weeks. You actually think Maryland has a chance. I really disagree. Take this into consideration.

Do you actually think Friedgen was gonna show anything that he had the 1st 2 weeks against 2 weak teams? They have been preparing for this game since fall camp started..O-line will dominate for Maryland...not predicting upset but they will cover...
