I'm ice cold so be careful. Just been firing picks without really looking at them. However I've done my research on this one.
Line is currently at 14/46.
With such the #3 ranked Gators from the powerhouse SEC against the Cardinals from the dead Big East, Gators is the obvious pick despite the two touchdown spread. Total is a little tough since Gators have a strong defense, but low totals attract an over play because it is so hard betting under on such a low number by college standards.
But wait.
Coach Charlie Strong, defensive coordinator Vance Bedford and running back coach Kenny Carter were all part of the Florida Gator program before coming to Louisville. They might know some weaknesses of certain players that can be exploited. Also, Muschamp and Strong are good friends, don't expect any points when the game is clearly over, which also opens up an opportunity for a backdoor cover if needed. Strong also has been very tough on his players during practice and using the underdog, no chance motivation factor as usual with these games. He will have his players ready. Enough with the coaching, onto the teams.
Look at the games Florida has played ending the season. 23 vs Jacksonville St which allows 30+ ppg. 27 vs Lafayette which allows 28+. 14 to Missouri which allows 28+ as well. Yes they put up 37 aginst FSU but was because FSU gifted them the ball, only 13 points in first three quarters before putting up 24 in the 4th. Louisville has a bunch of players around the Florida area, motivation/rivals will make up a little in what they lack in overall talent/speed. Gators offense just doesn't put up points no matter the defense. What separates Alabama and the other SEC teams with great defenses is that they have a QB who can actually pass, Gators don't have that. You have to believe a former defensive coordinator for two national championships in Charlie Strong is going to have a better defense than Jacksonville St and Lafayette. Louisville players on defenses have been recovering from injuries, this will add depth along with bringing key pieces back.
Florida has a great defense, but which passing QB have they actually played against. Manziel, Bray, Murray. Murray got 17 in a win. Manziel's first career start, got 17, probably should of won game. Bray, 20, Vols were up 20-13 late into 3Q but Gators pulled away. All of them which were close games. Not sure how Bridgewater's ankles are, but like Manziel, he can run.
You look at the SEC and think great defense, but how have they fared in these bowl games. NCST, Glennon had over 300 yards passing despite the interceptions against a good Vandy defense which only gives up 19. Michigan, Garner kept them in the game against South Carolina. Tahj Boyd beat LSU. Northwestern beat Mississippi St. Nebraska (31 pts) was in the game until late 3rd against Georgia. All these teams that went against the SEC, they had one thing in common, Dual threat QBs besides Glennon. Most important is that, they can make plays with their arm. Also, half of these SEC teams have QBs who can't make plays with their arm, one dimensional teams who are run heavy and hoping for a long ball. Strong and Bedford use to be in the SEC, I think they'll know how to gameplan for the style the Gators play.
Cardinals will score between 17-24 points. Basing this off of how other passing QBs have done against the Gators (17, 17, 20) as well as how the SEC has fared against other bowl teams thus far with such QB play. How much will the Gators score with that offense? I like the Cardinals to keep it within two TDs, possibly buy the hook. With the Gator offense, this can easily be a low scoring one possession game. Lay off total.
Everyone was in NIU shock the world mode, including me. But Louisville has a more realistic chance of happening, not saying they will but if it does happen, wouldn't be surprised. Good QB vs SEC w/ no QB = chance.
NIU / Fla St action was pretty evenly split, possibly even more action on NIU. Not the case here, people are all over the Gators.
Louisville +14.5 -115 (buy the hook)
If its late 4Q and IF the Gators are up 14, Muschamp won't kick a FG on his buddy Strong. =]

"If its late 4Q and IF the Gators are up 14, Muschamp won't kick a FG on his buddy Strong."
That makes no sense at all. Muschamp played for Georgia when Strong was the Defensive Coordinator at Florida. Strong coaches under Spurrier, Zook, and Meyer. There is zero relationship and if Muschamp has no affiliation or friendship with Stong. It has been publicly known that Muschamp has liter sequestered these Gators tk have them away from partying and they will come out healthy, fast, and dominating. Florida rolls in a game Lousiville doesn't belong in.

-14.5 is a lot of points to give. Your write up sounds more like you're trying to convince yourself they will make this a game. If they put up 37 against FSU, they will run all over Strongs defense. I'm not sure what's going to happen while Louisville has the ball though. BOL everyone

Yes, I watched the game. I thought Florida's offensive line had great push and ran very well against a solid FSU line. Florida held the ball a lot and gave that energetic defense long breaks. Florida just wore them down and piled it on in the end. Florida will do just this against Louisville.

Am I trying to convince myself that Louisville is the play? Of course I am. I'm stating ALL facts. If I was saying Florida was the play, I would state facts to support my pick and convince that it was the play. Isn't that what write ups are suppose to do?

Opinion, while Muschamp and Strong have no relation with each other.
"You have to believe a former defensive coordinator for two national championships in Charlie Strong is going to have a better defense than Jacksonville St and Lafayette." What about FSU? Who cares if they scored 24 points in the 4th, it's part of the game. It's all about matchup's and they matchup well against Louisville.

Then you know that Florida started on Florida St's side of the field 3/4 times in the 4Q. Started the quarter by kicking FG. Then fumble by FSU. Then punt return into FSU. Then either sack fumble / bad snap / handoff, don't remember. And then a turnover on downs on FLA 44. 32 yards, 37 yards, 59 yards. 32 yards was off a sudden change of possession, 1 play score. Last TD was 32 yards with FSU down 30-20, FSU probably taking chances w/ blitzes and no gap integrity at that point with 4 minutes to go.
I don't think FSU was worn out. Sudden change of possession TDs happen. Losing gap integrity trying to stop the run w/ all out blitzes to attempt to force fumbles to get ball back on your offense down 30-20 with 4 minutes to go is normal in college. 32 yards in 5 plays, 4 rushes for 18 yards only, then 14 yard passing TD.
Worn out? You obviously didn't watch the game or fully understand what worn out means. They scored 24 points in the 4Q, they only average 26.8 all year. So they can wear down FSU, but not the other teams like Jacksonville St / Lafayette / Missouri?

Do some research before you speak on Muschamp/Strong having no relationship.
"“Coach Will has done an outstanding job,” Strong said. “He’s a really good friend of mine. I know when he took over that program, I told him if there was anything I could do, I would be more than willing to help, even though I was moving on to Louisville"

What about FSU defense? They didn't lose that game. Offense/Special teams put them into bad situations. Just because a team scores a TD, doesn't mean it was the defenses fault. Even a top tier defense will give up 30 yards on a drive.
