Just a little heads up that Sewell (Virginia's starting QB) went down with and ankle sprain last week. It looks like he is going to play but not really a solid updated on how healthy he is.
A little tidbit from a preview I read:
"Virginia, though, is hoping to overcome several key injuries,
including a right ankle sprain to quarterback Jameel Sewell. The senior
left last week's game during the third quarter, and is questionable.
Sewell
has been efficient during the winning streak, completing 46 of 77
passes for 581 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. If he
can't play, Groh will likely turn to Marc Verica, who started most of
last season before losing the spot to Sewell.
Running back Mikell Simpson (shoulder) and defensive end Matt Conrath (ankle) are also uncertain to play."
---
Not trying to scare anybody off the game, but this is info and this is
what this site is for, right? I really don't know much about Virginia's
backup QB. I do know that Sewell is pretty solid and a vet at QB.

Info much appreciated. Expect the UNDER to happen even if they do play. The betting public is all over tech this game and neglecting to consider the conditions for the total to be UNDER in this game. If I knew Sewell and Simpson were playing for sure, I'd be all over the UVA ML right now considering 1) Their history @ Scott Stadium vs Tech 2) The complete 180 that Al Groh and the Wahoos do every season around October. 3) Anybody can beat anybody in the ACC. 4) Homecoming weekend. 5) UVA some of the best young talent on defense in the ACC. I do know that GT is going to have issues with the option on a wet field in Scott Stadium which could either translate into less points for GT or points off turnovers for UVA. UVA's defense is not to be underestimated this year as I would go about handicapping this game forgetting the month of September (like most previous Septembers for the Cavs) and look at how well they do in October ever year. With that being said this is not the same UVA team that lost it's opener to William and Mary. UNDER 49

Marc Verica started half of last year until the obviously better quarterback (Sewell) took the starting position. By no means is Verica a horrible quarterback, but I would be very worried if he were to start this would be incredible pressure on him. He has got a deep ball but not very accurate. Pretty quick to get out of the pocket but prone to making dumb moves with the ball. I think Sewell alone is worth 3 points on the spread. Simpson being another 2 points.

GT will go 11-1 this season. That offense is more than Virginia can handle.
If that happens, Santa Claus will come down my chimney tomorrow morning and bring me a lump of coal. The Ramblin' Wreck need to take it one week at a time, and history says this week will be too much to handle for the Jackets in Charlottesville again.

Not to mention GT is coming of big emotional home win vs Virg Tech and now goes on the road as a favorite. Virginia is a very live home dog today.

Virginia I think is the only ACC team with a 3-4 Defense. Any thoughts on how this base defense matches up with GT's triple option? Held them to 17 pts last year so i'm thinking they match up pretty well scheme-wise...
