That's what separates the good teams from the bad. The ability to not fall apart. If they didn't fall apart they would have a great record, just like a lot of other teams that have "what ifs."
If they fell apart against those other teams, do you think they will honestly stay in this game?
No one's saying Michigan is a good team--or that they are a better team than the Buckeyes. Given the differing situations, the Wolverines have a great chance of being better than the Buckeyes.

It used to be that you could just take all of the dogs in the big rivalry games, and most of the big "in-state" main rival games at the end of the year, and just clean up. It's not really that way anymore as teams liks OSU Texas, USC, etc are more inclined to just blow out their rivals.

How can these people honestly say that Ohio St is terrible on the road? They murdered Penn St. And that idiot talking about Michigans losses being misleading... What the hell do you think the Purdue loss was? They played TERRIBLE and that was a total fluke. And the Navy score was obviously misleading as they were killing em up until the end... Michigan gets blasted by Illinois and you're telling me that if they play up to their potential and OSU plays up to their potential it's a close game. Let's get real here. And why are there still guys saying you can't put money on Pryor. THAT FUCKER MAKES PLAYS. AND THEY'RE 8-3 ATS. 4 units on Ohio St their 14 points better than any team in the Big 10. Oh and please don't tell me that they have nothing to play for... THEY'RE PLAYING FUCKN MICHIGAN!

Guys, OSU has everything to play for vs Michigan. Forget about the Rose Bowl, or any bowl, they have to beat Michigan. This mentality is the difference between Tressel and Cooper (BTW, why make a change? You may get a guy that is hot like Kelly, and while he may be a good coach and recruiter , he might not be able to beat michigan) The bowls are anticlimatic for OSU after they beat Michigan. OSU started having problems in the big bowls once their streak of beating Mich started to get strong, coincidence??

What the confirmation bias leaking out of your ass fails to identify is that Pryor is nowhere near as good a passer as he is runner. To beat Michigan by 2 touchdowns, Pryor will need to throw and throw often. He has proven is not capable of doing that. The Michigan defensive line is a quality unit on a stand alone basis. Brandon Graham is perhaps the best pass rusher in the country, but his numbers are negated because of the sieve playing behind him. There are walk-ons starting at MLB and SS. Michigan's front four is stout. Tressel's conservative schemes--which, not coincidentally, are driven by Pryor's poor throwing ability--will be the decisive factor in this game being close.
Ohio St. doesn't score more than 2 offensive touchdowns in this one. For OSU backers to get a cover, they'll need a defensive/special teams touchdown to cover this spread.

None of these offenses are "Pass-first" offenses, save Purdue and ND. Still, all of these QBs managed to shred this Michigan secondary with phenomenal success. Now, million dollar question: Which of these QBs is Pryor better than in terms of passing?

As tsw outlined, Michigan's recent losses are extremely misleading, littered with 2nd half collapses.
Ask yourself the likelihood they continue trending along this path against a QB that has proven he's not capable of making their porous secondary pay and a coach obsessed with playing it as conservatively as possible.
Honestly, what is misleading about losing 4 straight games by an average of close to 20 points? And please don't tell me your argument is turnovers. If they are consistently committing turnovers, do you really think all of a sudden they will stop against OSU's defense?
Anywho, bet who you want, but there's no arguing Michigan is shitty. But sometimes shitty teams cover.

You don't see the difference between leading a game at halftime, and losing by 20 and getting blown out wire-to-wire?
For whatever reason (youth, lack of focus), they have been very inconsistent in 2nd halfs this season (big comebacks against Mich St, ND, and Indiana and big collapses--Illinois, Penn St, Purdue, and Wisconsin). I'm inclined to attribute these inconsistencies to inexperience and youth at QB. Now, because they have endured 2nd half collapses in their last three consecutive games, the public perception is that this team stinks, that they don't belong on the same field as the Bucks.

Guys, Ohio st beat Michigan like 44-7 last year, in Columbus. Pryor was the QB. I'm not saying that will happen, or that it translates into this years game, but Pryor has had some big games vs subpar defenses. Against a good defense that puts some pressure on him, Pryor is useless as a passer. He can put up some serious points vs an average team though...

im not worried about Michigan staying in this game, i really dont think they will move the ball very well agaisnt Ohio St. What i am worried about is a moose...Ohio State may be up by 14 to 17 in the 4th, and the vest will play conservative, and allow a late meaningless score for Michigan to cover...OSU doesnt play to blow anyone out, they dont need to worry about style points(not that Tress ever did)....i think Michigan covers this one in the 4th with a moose...Might make a play on this alone

ohio st wont need to throw a single pass to cover this game
mich is giving up 170yds on the ground and they cant protect the ball....19t.o. in the last 8 games

In a game with this much emotion and intensity, Ohio St will find it tough sledding to strictly run the ball. Given Michigan's glaring weakness in the secondary, they'll have no choice BUT to throw the ball.

Tressel is tough to back because of this. Ironically its Wiscy that I like to back only because as they shut down the offense (as all big 10 teams seem to do) their o-line and rb's seem to gash the other team. If RR ever gets Michigan on track he is going to be the one big 10 coach I would like to lay money on.

As a diehard UM fan I'm laying the points and taking osu.
Just a heads up...starting RB Brandon Minor looks to be out for this game. Dude runs tough but has never been healthy his whole career. Leading WR Martavious Odoms is also dinged and hasn't played the last two games.
The loss of Center David Molk killed the continuity on the line with the shuffling of Mooseman to take his spot. Senior RB Carlos Brown is talented but often injured and you'll see a lot of true freshman Vincent Smith and soph Mike Shaw at that spot. Both are talented but young.
The D is an absolute mess and 3 coordinators in 3 years hasn't helped. Opposing OC's lick their chops during Michigan week. Brandon Graham is a stud (and top 15 pick) but it's almost comical how much he has been held this year. The only other two players worth a damn on D are CB Warren and DT Mike Martin.
Michigan has started two TRUE WALKONS in the back 7 this year. What I mean by true is not a case where a kid has offers from other schools but walks on to get a schollie in a year or two...no, these two were actual students (Kovacs and Leach) that came to an open tryout "Rudy" style and made the team. They are now starting and they are huge liabilities but what can you really expect.
This is easily the WORST back seven I can ever remember at Michigan. LB's Obi Ezeh and Jonas Mouton have regressed and neither can dissect a play. Stevie Brown has been solid moving from S to LB but the 4th LB, whether it be Smith or Leach or ? are just not ready and play on skates. Starting CB Cissoko was kicked off the team and they've had to piece together the db's with multiple position switches.
Really the only time the D looks good is when they sellout with a run blitz. This leaves them open for screens and TE's have just KILLED them all year!
BTW...anyone who thinks the bucks won't care a bunch about this game after wrapping up the title don't know this rivalry. They eat, drink, and sleep this game! They spend a part of each practice EVERYDAY working on Michigan packages and even have a huge sign that says, "What have you done today to beat Michigan?".
Michigan may keep it close early but I see a 35-17 bad guys victory.

Ohio cares about this game more than any game they play. I have not made a side yet, but it will be OSU or no play. Not only does Tressel own this team, he opens up the playbook against them. Different play calling places TP in better spots to exploit Michigan's defense.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The play is Ohio State or nothing here. Pryor did just fine against Michigan's defense last year and Ohio State did TP a huge favor by running a lot against Iowa. Michigan is going to bring the attitude that they need to stop the run and make Pryor beat them, and he will.
Tressel will keep his foot on the gas against Michigan. I went to the Penn State vs Michigan game this year and I was surprised that Michigan's offense was so ineffective. Ohio Sate's defense, with a couple seniors who have never lost to Michigan, want to dominate this game.
Insight, Tressel and all Ohio State backers . If anybody wants to piss money away backing "That Team Up North" than we should let them.
