Yes, I am homer. Yes, I want my Hokies to win more than anything.
Now that we have that out of the way, I believe I have been pretty subjective over the last few years and have actually bet against the Hokies more often than I bet on them.
I have a huge play on the Hokies tomorrow at -6.5 and figured I would get my perspective on this game out there even though fading me of late has been profitable..
I have watched the last 2 Clemson games in full(Auburn, FSU). They have definitely bought into their offensive coordinator and he is finally spreading the football around to the players who can make a difference for this team. They have been extremely fun to watch and one of the rare Clemson teams I can pull for. Watkins is an absolute bull and probably my favorite player to watch in CFB outside of Mathieu of course..Boyd is progressing and proving he can make plays, especially in the clutch on 3rd down, where they have been phenomenal this season..
VT has struggled a bit so far this season. Looking very impressive in the opener that I attended vs. Appy St. Looking like absolute shit against ECU. Looking mediocre against Arkansas St and then playing a pretty solid all around game in Marshall. I didnt expect too much from this team in the first 4 games to be honest, merely a chance to get Logan acclimated to the offense and avoid injuries along the way on offense. Well, Logan started out looking every bit of the QB that has rarely seen the field. In the opener he never once looked off of his first read and just chucked it as hard as he could. Of course it was Appy St. so we didnt have too much to worry about and our receivers were open all day for the first part so it didnt hurt us. Then we went out to ECU and they dont exactly have a defense to be afraid of, but they took away his first read and he was so confused he just tucked the ball and ran to no success. The coaches must have started drilling it into him against Arky St as he started scanning through several reads and never seemed to make the right one. Finally at Marshall he was going through his progressions well and was just lacking his 2 starters at receiver, which really did show. He will have Boykin back this week and Marcus Davis is finally starting to practice a bit better so should see the field as he is easily the most talented receiver we have. Losing Dyrell for the year is a big blow in the return game, but definitely replacable in the air.
1. The biggest thing that has impressed me with the Hokies this year is where I see the biggest separation between these two teams. The Hokies defensive line is awesome this year. They havent had a D-Line this strong since I attended the school as a freshman in '03. They dont necessarily have the one big talent off the edge that they have had in the past, but they do not get moved backward. They get off the ball so fast that it has been difficult for any team to sustain any type of offense. I dont see Ellington having any room to run at all, which leads to...
2. Boyd is still a first year starter heading into a night game in Lane Stadium. He has impressed at home and really excelled on 3rd down but this is a completely different situation. Let's toss in one of the noisiest stadiums in the country going crazy on every 3rd down and see how we rate him at the end of this game. He is going to have his go to target blanketed by Hosley with help from Whitley over the top. Hosley is one of, if not the best, cover corners in the country and Watkins doesnt run a precise enough route yet in my opinion. Pressure on Boyd should cause some turnovers as the Hokies have been the most opportunistic defense in the country over the last 10 years.
3. Let us not forget Clemson has an atrocious defense. And that is at home. The Hokies offense has not been world beaters, but David Wilson should have huge holes to run through and is as dangerous as anyone outside of LaMichael James in the country.
4.And the one I deem the most important to the outcome of this game. The weather at game time tomorrow. It's not going to be the ideal passing conditions Boyd is looking for. You can expect the usual Blacksburg shitty weather. We are talking winds upward of 25 mph, rain and cold. It will not play to Clemsons strengths and will play right into what VT is going to try to do. They will be able to pound the ball with the big lineman getting off the snap and letting David Wilson win them the game. Expect a huge game from Mr. David Wilson
5. VT just owns Clemson. I have not been alive for a single game between these teams in which this matchup was competitive. The last 2 times these teams have played the Hokies have knocked the Tigers off of their high and sent them into a tailspin. Revenge factor? Maybe. But when Beamer owns a squad, he typical continues to own that squad.
Of course this is just my opinion and I'm sure I'll have some differing opinions from everyone. I know I'm a little late to the discussion but been pretty busy this week.

Bendi--checked you out for the very reasons you listed. You know I don't come in and bash, and I will call someone out for being a complete homer. That said, and knowing you are a hokie, I like to get the rundown from someone that really knows his team.
I most cap on situations, and motivation, and to me this one is summed up pretty easily: Team coming in off of 2 big wins for the program on a sugar high and has to go to Blacksburg for an evening game in early autumn? Sounds like crash and burn to me as well. Clemson is one of my LEAST favorite teams to try and bet on or against since they are so inconsistent, but this is a perfect spot for a big letdown. I would like to lay less than 7, and am looking forward to watching this one.

Bibendi i am on V tech as well gl here is a tweet for the head oddsmaker at Caesar's regarding the game:
I like knowing we'll have the chalk going for us in this game. Clemson
has been a nice story but there's no dog value left here
I'm pretty high on VT this week. Great spot to capitalize on an
undervalued side when the public loves the dog of B2B big wins
do you not think his tweets are meant to be persuasive in anyway? why would he give out info to help anyone? just wondering not being a msart ass or bashing

Let us not forget Clemson has an atrocious defense.
Don't overreact to a small sample of games. Clemson's defense is one of the top 2 or three VPI will face this year. The reason to bet the Gobblers is the situation.

that is just his opinion on the game. he is in charge of the book but the wynn set the lines he just pretty much follows the wynn lines. he gives his opinon sometimes who he likes and he answers peoples questions he is not trying to deceive.
Before the pitt game he made comments right before the game how the sharps were coming in on Pitt +3 and the public was all over South Florida and that he was rooting for Pitt badly.

Sometimes, you have to take these quotes with a grain of salt. But other times, you take it and gamble with it (with no other worthy insight). I'll take Bibendi's pick. VT -7 all the fucking way!
