Jumping on a couple early as I really don't see these lines getting any better and both will probably go down.
Penn State +10
I have long said Alabama will have the best defense in the land this year so yes I have a lot of respect for that unit. But winning by over 10 points on the road with an inexperienced QB is a tall task. Neither QB looked good for Bama last week against the maulers from Kent State and seeing one of these kids play their road game in Happy Valley in front of 100,000+ and on ABC and not making any mistakes is tough to envision. Let's not dismiss the Penn State defense either as this will be a good group this year that is stuffed with JR's and SR's with plenty of experience.
On paper it looks like Penn State will have a tough time scoring but strange things tend to happen in these big games where the home team riding on emotion and playing with nothing to lose finds a way to step up their game and finds points. This is the biggest game for Penn State until mid-November when they host Nebraska so I think they put in everything they have and why not, they have nothing to lose while Alabama really has nothing to gain. If Bama plays mistake free and wins by over 10 I tip my cap and move on.
Army +10
Damn, what a tough spot for San Diego State. They have to fly all the way to the East Coast to play a 9am PT game against a pissed off Army team, tough to see them even winning SU.
Army was terrible last week. This team is far from being that bad. They went from a perrenial 3-4 win team to a 5 and then 7 win team in the first two seasons under Ellerson. The program is building and getting stronger and I don't believe last week's no show was any indication of where they are now. This team only lost 3 games all year by double digits and seeing them do it twice in a row to start the year is tough especially when you know these kids have heart and will show up after a game where they embarrassed themselves.
SDSU may well be the better team but again this is a real tough spot for kids not used to long travel and playing games at 9am their time. I wonder how many of these kids have ever even been to the East Coast let alone played a 9am football game. I think they come out flat and that's not good because Army will have their game faces on.

Saturday night I was thinking of two teams. PennSt was one of them. I was thinking this the line would be a TD max, than I see 10.5 available and was like WTF. Only once the past 30 years has State been a DD dog at home and got shutout 23-0 I believe. That line is screaming take me, take me. Way to many eyes on this game for a bad number to come out. I hope you win but I'll sit this game out, GL .

Uconn didn't lose a whole lot of players but they did lose Edsall and I think he was that whole program. He was a master at getting the most out of his players and consistently overachieved with the talent on hand. Now that he is gone I think UConn may be in for a bit of a rough patch. Vanderbilt is the doormat of the SEC but they do return just about every player from a team that stunk last year. Doesn't sound like a plus but these kids should be better this season after seeing it all last year. UConn winning on the road with a new coach and QB and a big loss in the intangibles department seems like a tall task.
Georgia +3
"This team stinks"......"Richt is garbage"......"The whole coaching staff should be fired and the program should rebuild".....Jesus, settle down everyone. So they got pushed around against Boise, who doesn't? Boise would beat South Carolina by double digits too. Seems like a good spot to bet Georgia after what everyone saw last week and thinks right now. This line is also basically the same and that IMO is wrong because South Carolina isn't as good as Boise. These are all my opinions but I don't think South Carolina is an elite team, I think they overachieved last season and while still good I think they are overvalued here. I also think Georgia has the better QB and better defense. Throw in the fact that this is basically a must win game for the program to shut a lot of yappers up and it makes it the far better spot for Georgia too. Sign me up.
I will be on Air Force and Colorado for sure and am also looking hard at Duke, Oregon State, and Toledo.

andy - I m on Penn S.T too... Here is why the cover the points. QB Play, Bama brings a very un experienced QB to one of the most storied and hostile programs in the country. At the end of the day, I do think Bama wins a close game. But I think Penn S.T will jump on them early. To be honest with you, the BEST bet on this game is to play Penn S.T either the 1st quarter or the 1st half. Those two bets my friend, are money in the bank.

What are the travel itineraries of college football teams? Do they fly out the day before the game? Or do they fly out 2 or 3 days in advance to get acclimated to the jet lag?
