KSU is a deep team right now while KU is very top heavy in minutes played. They'll be able to throw bodies at KU all night long. The Cats will be a very good team this season, no doubt. But they're young and a leader has yet to surface (though it will likely be Angel).
KU cruises by double digits tonight. I know KU has all kinds of issues and the phony WalMart KU fans that plague the world are all up in arms and worried, and maybe they should be...it won't matter tonight. I think I've seen this story before:
Foul trouble and youth will be an issue. Book it. Fouls will happen early and often. Jamar Samuels will have two fouls before he has time to fart. Pick another key player in the KSU lineup (Spradling?) and they'll also have two fouls hung on them inside of 5 mins from tip-off.
In short:
-KSU is too young for this kind of environment. It's extremely hard to avoid falling way behind early and when you do, you must have leadership and experience to pull you out of it.
-KU's thin roster won't matter tonight- depth will be a wash as the KSU fouls pile up.
-The refs will do their part to keep it "fair" (it's very subtle...the team foul totals will be similar at the end of the game...but look at who the fouls are called on ).
-History says you gotta take KU.
Side note- be prapared to take KSU in the bounce-back this Saturday when the high-scoring but overrated MU Tigers head to Manhattan.

You may be right. I couldn't resist (and it might be true- conf sched and time will tell). Whatever the case...OU is a work in progress and if things go as usual tonight with KSU/KU, we should get plenty of line value with KSU/MU. I predict that on Saturday night in Manhattan, MU will not look like the world-beater they may or may not be.

This is a big number for a team that is pretty limited offensively. Kansas is good, but their perimeter shooting game is inconsistent at best. I would assume Frank Martin is going to crowd the paint and force Kansas to beat them from the outside, or turn it over trying to force it inside. If Kansas is hot from outside (Johnson and Teahan are about the only threats) then KU has a chance to cover, if they aren't KSU has a shot to win outright.
Conversely, KSU is pretty limited offensively themselves. They should struggle to score against a Kansas team that has played pretty decent half court defense this season. Taylor and Johnson should have an edge defensively against the KSU backcourt in terms of both size and speed....KSU will need to keep turnovers under control as well...
I played KSU +9.5 only because of Kansas' limitations on the offensive end of the court added to the fact that they aren't a great free throw shooting team which will make it tough for this team to cover double digit spreads...........who knows though, I could be wrong.
Kansas is a very good team this year, they just aren't elite like they have been in years past. Kansas is a solid top 15 squad, just not a top 5 team.
Kansas State is probably a notch below Kansas......but not much

KU fan here. KSU covers tonight. This KU team is not even close to the teams they have rolled out the last 5 years. KSU keeps this close and KU pulls away at the end and wins by about 8. No play for me.

Yeah this is bye far the worst team Bill Self has had since he has been at KU and a KSU fan doesn't think they can stay within 8. Talk about Wal-Mart!!!!!!!!!

KU fan here. KU has had five guys leave early for the NBA the past two years. It's caught up with them, and this is not your typical KU team. But I've watched a ton of K-State too. I don't like their chances of keeping it close in Allen. Too young and this will be the first intimidating crowd they've faced this season. 2/13 should be a different story. And for what it's worth, I agree with ksuwins that the Wildcats are going to be a very good play against Missouri on Saturday.
