im not sure how people are saying they made the right call when no one has seen the 106 pages of text on this ill
95 Dems. voted against it too. It must have been a bad bill if Pelosi couldn't get her own party in line.
If the bill was so great why didn't Pelosi get 11 members of her OWN PARTY to vote with her? Of course they blame republicans, you really think Pelosi would ever say SHe was at fault?
You guys are smart enough to know that with 95 dems voting against, the blame can be squarely lain at the LEADERS feet.

to both points.
I am also glad they defeated this ridiculous bailout bill. Something needs to be done, but this is not it.

MORON!
you guys think this is the Republicans' fault??? you guys seriously should not be trusted with anything if you are that stupid and short-sighted...
but am i surprised? no... this is the Democratic mentality... simple-minded...
this bailout failed because of the god damned ulterior motives of the fucking DEMOCRATS!!!
they didn't look at this as a crisis... they saw it as an oppurtunity... what did they do?
1) they added riders to the bill, believing that Republicans were going to be forced to approve it even if they didn't like it... they are trying to come off as bipartisan, saying "they wanted this bill, and we did our part"... bullshit! fucking congress always does this shit, and this problem belongs to the DEMOCRATS! they saw this as a do or die situation for the Republicans, so they took advantage of this crisis... WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT??? they are taking advantage of a situation that is crushing this country! this is not a time to say, "Republicans have to approve this bill... throw on as many riders as you can"...
2) Nancy Pelosi antagonized the Republicans right before the vote... as if it wasn't bad enough they had used this as an opportunity, but to then antagonize them as if the Democrats were being the bigger party here... that was the straw that broke the camels' back...
get it right, fools! you guys keep looking at all of this shit from the most simple-minded perspective (i.e., DEMOCRATIC perspective), and never examining what is really going on...
this problem boils down to the problem of congress, and comes right back to the failure of the two-party system... and it fails for the most idiotic of all reasons... pride!
who gives a fuck about pride? we are talking government here...
Nancy Pelosi is a fucking moron! you idiots who think this is purely the Republicans fault are fucking morons!

yep, and the problem is... when they revise the bill, this is my great fear right now...
Democrats want this election more than they want this bailout... they have sold the "sheep" of this country that "they did their part" on this bill... once a new bill is proposed, what will motivate them to pass it, knowing that the longer this bill takes to pass, and the further our economy plummets, the better their chances of winning the next election?
if there is a revised deal, i predict the Democrats won't approve it...

Thank god Canada has chartered banks. That's the strength of our banking system. They can be directly regulated by the Bank of Canada. We learned our lesson long ago after 1929. It's something the US government should look into. I wonder if our banks make a move in the US after this debacle, picking up the pieces. I deal with TD Bank, trust me, they are a good bank, friendly service. You'll love them too, as I wouldn't be surprised if you guys start banking at US branches of TD, CIBC, Royal Bank, etc.. in a couple years.

Why do Adults, need adult supervision?
Wasn't Obama in the Senate too? Couldn't he as a LEADER have provided any supervision that was lacking?
Congress does not want Obama or McCain in DC for this. It is too distracting.
Obama on working on a plan to make sure it doesn't happen again, Congress is working on the rescue package, and McCain is somewhere in between.
