Royals: The division will come down to the
Tigers and Royals and Tribe fans may as well get used to the idea. Both
starters are tough cookies but the Royals are hitting far better than the
Indians lately, especially in a lefty-righty match up, where the Tribe has
turned in only 5 quality offensive performances in their last 15 versus lefty and
are just 11-16 on the season. Coversely the Royals have turned in 12 of 15
quality performances versus righty and are 33-29 on the year.
Cubs: Yes, of course the Cubs are going
to tank with Jeff and Jason gone, but it does not necessarily have to happen
today. The reality has set in and they are coming back with the best of the
three anyway. Had it been offered the A’s would have been better off with
Arietta than both of the ones they got. In the quality start department we have
a 7-3 to 11-6 match up, which on the surface is fairly comparable, But Arietta’s
skills are much better with a 78.8/71.5 ratings advantage. If the Cubs can
remember how well they were hitting before yesterday we have a better than
50-50 chance to hit the big bonus bucks. Gotta play.
Yankees: I simply can not believe Nolasco
will get lucky twice in a row. That should not happen to guys that are 5-12 in
the quality start department. I have extremely average ratings on Kuroda but
much better offensive ratings on the Yankees and that should make the
difference after they held to just one run yesterday.
Blue Jays: All the focus here is on Samardzija
and how wonderful he is going to be for the A’s, which may or may not be true,
but Hutchison is already #1 for the Blue Jays and deservedly so. With an 11-6
quality start record he can put the Jays in a position to win versus anybody. Of
course I would like to see Encarnacion in BJ’s lineup, but if it is not to be
then it is not to be. Who is to say someone else does not step up? This is not
a hitting contest anyway, it is up to Drew and Jeff and +140 line has to be
given a shot.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

love reading your writeups everyday .. not bashing here but I think way to many people are trying to be sharp on the bluejays today..
they just lost one of their best players and adam lind looked like a hung over bullpen catcher yesterday...
This is a terrible spot for hutch in my opinion.. the As are patient and work the count more than any other team
when hutchinson struggles it comes from walks and then throwing c#ck shots.. hes at his best when teams chase him out of the zone all day..
As will give jeff run support today bc yes there is some pressure on him.. how many of these guys have every faced samardjiza, a handful?..i know edwin has but hes out....
