Usually keep ESPN radio on at work... Cowherd has a guy on his show right now that is dropping some serious knowledge and I thought I would pass it along...
I have always heard teams in general struggle in games prior to their bye week. Whatever the reason may be, it is what it is. Since last season, teams are7-23 in their games before their bye week against teams who have yet to go on their bye week. Teams heading into their bye week next week are:
Chicago, Baltimore, Houston, San Diego, Indy, and Tennessee.
Now, going by what was mentioned above, Chicago and Baltimore will not fit this trend because the Steelers and the Redskins have already had their bye weeks. Since we are talking about Chicago and Washington briefly, Shannahan is 5-22 ATS as a favorite. That aside, teams fitting this trend to fade this week are Houston, SD, Indy and Tennessee.
I am loving this Jacksonville play more and more as the week goes on. SD will be flying cross country for an early start against a winless team. Say what you want about Jacksonville, but this over reaction to them being winless is a little absurd. They are making improvements. They only got outgained by Denver in Denver last week by 45 yards. Plus, SD is awful defensively. Forget what they did to Indy last week (we can have that conversation another time). SD ranks dead last in the league at yards allowed per play. And, another trend Jacksonville has on their side.... Since 1992 is you ONLY bet winless underdogs week 6 and on... you would be hitting 64% OF YOUR BETS. Jacksonville should 100% be on your card this week. It will be on mine.
I hate that Houston fits this trend because I loved them this week before I saw this. As for Indy and Tennessee, I don't have much of a comment. I think people are putting too much weight in that blow out win at SF. I think 8 times out of 10 roles would be reversed and the 9ers would lay it on them.
Just passing on some of the valuable knowledge. Feel free to comment. GL this weekenend all. Remember.... Jags

i remember when a lot of ppl said "chargers flying cross country for early game vs the eagles" and they won straight up. something to consider
The purpose of this post was to reveal trends of teams going on bye weeks against teams who havent had them yet. No one was going on a bye in week 2... Did you read the post?

Good luck!, love getting knowledge like you stated above
my sunday leans NYG -3.5, KC -6.5, TB/ATL O 43
Thats what this forum should be about. If I hear or read anything I feel to be valuable, I share it. Most of these threads are "Im taking this team" with no reason, and its followed by, "you're going to lose" with no reason. These plays may all lose, but some of these trends and info shouldn't be ignored.

You love betting on the worst team in football. Okay, can you provide more angles than those statistics you quoted? Maybe say.. like what advantages the Jaguars will have in order for them to cover? Their defense is terrible.

I'm not trying to be rude but although the percentages are in your favor for the trends you mentioned, none of them discuss the Jaguars' ability to stop Rivers, which to be honest I don't really think they can do.

I love betting teams in good spots. If it just so happens that the worst teams are in those spots, then so be it. I wouldn't say I love betting the worst teams. I don't wake up every week and find out who the worst teams are and play them. Sometimes its not all about matchups. Oakland beat SD and they give up more yards through the air than Jacksonville... And you can say Rivers went off that game, but he threw 3 INTs. SD ranks dead last in a few categories on defense in the league... I'm supposed to trust that, on the road favored by 7.5? SD can win by a TD and Jacksonville still covers. The Jags may struggle to stop Rivers... But SD will struggle to stop anyone.

you can't make any argument in a game involving the Chargers and say the opposing teams defense is terrible because in most cases the the Chargers will have a worse defense

FMC, thanks for the info Brother! It always amazes me how many guys try to find a flaw in the strategy as opposed to using what may work to their advantage. I guess it's more important for them to say "I told you so" and lose, rather than applying these nuggets toward a win! In any event, Thanks for sharing Amigo, some of us appreciate any help when it comes to "capping".
I'm all over KC - 6.5 and SF - 4. Still mulling over the Den/Indy game, but my gut tells me Peyton makes Irsay pay for those comments. He's definitely got an axe to grind, I don't care what he says in public. So, I'm guessin that i'll lay the wood and play Denver in a 3 teamer with those two and watch the "master" at work! GL Bro.

FMC-I agree with your stats...Jacksonville +9.5 will cover Rivers throw HOT then NOT is Jags 'D'...Jags are due to cover Also taking Eagles-2.5 and Lions -1 to round out 3 team...BOL
btw...Wouldn't touch Broncos-Colts spread but I see this game going OVER

I agree. A lot of people don't tend to explain their reasoning in the plays they pick. It's more on the lines of "You want winners"? here they are or something on the lines of something crazy like "My 4 year old son picked these games" posts like those I feel they're are just wasting space on the forums... I try to give very intelligent insight on my picks and pretty good at debating on being able to weigh in on what really matters. Someone should just create a thread where only cappers with valuable information should be able to post in it. Food for thought. Shruggz

I don't need write ups... If someone wants to put their own money on a game why should they explain their reasoning to me?? I just can't stand when I or someone else spends hours doing some research and post a play,,, and get the "" reply. This forum is meant for posts with discussion.. I don't care if you agree or disagree with posted plays... But say something to spark a convo. This is an opportunity for extra income we all could use... If we all spent some time and made some educated comments and posts it would be a better place

I agree. people do spend hours of research to help others and people just completely blow them off because 1. didn't read the post.. 2 didn't care enough to think it was all facts... or 3. hating for no reason.
