....giants backers, dont get too excited because barry zito is on the mound... he pitched a great game 5, but dont expect him to repeat that.... verlander is consistent and will dominate, zito will give up 3 or 4 runs today.
St.louis starting pitching imploded and so did their defense, making too many errors and not enough plays.....
Way to much respect on this forum for zito based off of his last outing.... if he comes out and pitches a gem, i will tip my hat to him, but history says that he wont
Counting on zito to give up 3 or 4 runs today, My plays:

Also, with lincicum pegged as the game 2 starter, bochy does not have the luxury of pulling zito early if he senses that zito is about to implode like bochy did in the cincinatti seires, pulling zito after giving up only 2 runs in 2 innings and still holding a 3-2 lead

This is not true. I am pretty sure Madison Bumgarner has been named the game 2 starter and Lincecum will be in the pen. If Zito is shaky tonight, we likely will see Timmy

my bad.... either way, if lincecum comes in, its because zito has given up 2+ runs already....

Zito has not won his last 12 starts...the giants have won his last 13 but he did not get the win in all of those games. Zito is certainly an average pitcher at best if you actually look at the numbers or simply watch him pitch.

Thank you ,.... Barry Zito it is... Did you know Zito won his last 12 starts???
incorrect - san franscisco has won the last 13 games (including playoffs) that barry zito has started, and barry zito is 8-0 with 5 no decisions in those games.
of those 13 games:
zito pitched more than 7 innings only twice, pitched 6 to 7 innings 7 times, and less than 6 innings six times. he has given up less than 2 earned runs 4 times during that 13 game span.
based on averages of just that 13 game stretch, we can expect 5.1 innings pitched with 2 to 3 earned runs from zito.
Also note, if you incorporate the entire season, you will get much worse numbers for zito.
As a betting man, I bet that verlander will out-perform zito over the 1st 5 innings and tigers 0.5 runs at -115 is a reasonable price.

The A's .. ok the set the single season team record for Strike outs .. go figure his ALDS #s are great ... no threat the Giants would of done the same thing ..
Now the Yankees ... as Soon as Jeter broke his ankle .. the whole Yankees post season hopes were broken ..
Detroit backers dont be fooled .. SF wil Destroy Detroit in every way ... and

This is a whole new ball game, and much respect for Verlander for consistency.
What really matters now is the next 4 games ahead as of today,
Either team will find a way to use their pitchers to dominate the batters.
As they say good pitching beats good hitting
Giants are not good in winning their first home games, unless the Tigers gets cold feeted in waiting for todays game, as the Giants probably carry the momentum into this game. And the stadium is a pitchers,
So I still give the edge on the Tigers and win under.

** DONT BE FOOLED **
...its a chicken or egg argument.... did the A's and yankees not get hits because they are bad offensively, making verlander look better than he is, or is verlander so good he made the A's and yankees look horrible? Thats a judgement call and why they call it "handicapping".
.... not saying that the tigers are a lock. I don't even bet that much baseball and my knowledge is fractional compared to alot of posters here.... the only reason i bothered posting is I have watched enough barry zito games to know he is medicore and the last game was an aberation.... way too much zito love on this forum excepting a repeat performance
