Stoudemire back, Anthony probable for Knicks

New York Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudemire is expected to make his season debut versus the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.

Oddsmakers have the Knicks set as 9-point home favorites against the Blazers. New York is just 2-3 SU and 0-4-1 ATS in its last five.

Stoudemire has missed the first 30 games of the season due to a knee injury suffered in the preseason and the subsequent surgery in October. Without Stoudemire in the lineup, New York has jumped out to a 21-9 SU record (15-14-1 ATS) and leads the Atlantic Division.

Last month, Stoudemire was estimated to be worth one point to the Knicks' spreads, according to oddsmakers at

“(Stoudemire is) another guy who has regressed quickly,” Michael Perry of told Covers. “But now that the Knicks are vastly improved and deeper, he could see his stats increase from 2011.”

The Knicks get Stoudemire back just in time. The roster has been depleted in recent weeks with injuries to forwards Carmelo Anthony and Rasheed Wallace, center Tyson Chandler and guards Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert.

Anthony, who leads the Knicks with 28.5 points per game, is probable Tuesday after missing the last two games with knee issues. Chandler is questionable with a nagging ankle injury.

Stoudemire averaged 17.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last season.

Tuesday’s total is set at 197.5.
