Projected BCS bowls and spreads: Irish meet Tide in BCS
What a week, as we saw two of the three undefeated teams go down which is exactly what Alabama needed to get back into the BCS Championship picture.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Notre Dame Fighting IrishProjected line:
The Crimson Tide backed into the BCS Championship despite losing against Texas A&M last week. They do deserve to be here as they are the best one-loss team but Alabama is not out of the woods yet with a game against Georgia in the SEC Championship, following its regular season finale against Auburn.
Notre Dame is the last remaining undefeated team and will likely stay that way as the Irish face USC, which is without quarterback Matt Barkley, on the road Saturday. These teams are tight in the power rankings but Alabama would still be a heavy favorite. Fiesta BowlKansas State Wildcats vs. Oregon Ducks
The Fiesta Bowl will grab Oregon, which is likely out of both the BCS Championship and the Rose Bowl because of the loss to Stanford. The Ducks will be the best option of the at-large teams. The Wildcats’ loss was very surprising and, even though it was on the road, they had huge advantages on both sides of the ball but were dominated on both sides. While the BCS Championship is still a possibility, the chances are slim and we catch a good matchup in the Fiesta Bowl. Oregon showed it is human after all but the Ducks are still a very publicly bet team. Orange BowlLouisville Cardinals vs. Florida State Seminoles
Florida State -10
The Orange Bowl remains the same as Florida State got into the ACC Championship with its no-sweat win over Maryland. The Seminoles will face Georgia Tech for the title and it will be the first matchup of the season between the two. Louisville was handed its first loss of the season at Syracuse two weeks ago which showed its 9-0 record was fraudulent. The Cardinals are now ranked behind Rutgers but after winning against UConn this week, they should be able to take out the Scarlet Knights even though it is on the road. Florida State will be a big favorite as the Big East is a public fade. Rose BowlStanford Cardinal vs. Nebraska CornhuskersProjected line:
With Stanford's win over Oregon, it has now turned into a very appealing draw and the Rose Bowl will be glad to have Stanford. The Cardinal will have to beat UCLA twice to get here and that should not be an issue. Nebraska will have to contend with Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship but the Huskers are playing well with five straight wins and another likely win to end the regular season. As dominating as the Stanford defense was against the Ducks, it has opened some eyes and will certainly get a lot more action at the betting window. Sugar Bowl
Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma SoonersProjected line:
Florida still has a chance to getting to the BCS Championship but it will need Georgia to lose this week to Georgia Tech and then have Georgia defeat Alabama. Both are unlikely so the Gators end up here with Georgia and LSU still strong possibilities. Florida still has a test with Florida State on the road this coming Saturday. The Sooners survived a scare against West Virginia and have another test this week against Oklahoma State before closing the season at TCU. Based on power rankings, the Gators would be slight favorites here.
