I've only seen one post mentioning Zimmerman's error. that was the main thing. get that out, and get the next out (like they did) and game is over, 5-3. blame Zimmerman more than Soriano.

How is it not even close? Yes, the Jays' depth has been exposed, but their starting pitching was supposed to be the best. It has been the worst in the American League (or one of). Even with Reyes out, the pitching should be able to keep them in games. eg. yesterday vs the Yankees. A 3-0 lead and immediately give it up. Both teams are massive disappointments. Being from Toronto and a huge Jays fan, I'm inclined to say the Jays. |

Leafs are a solid pick. They are built for playoffs. Boston is a playoff type team but their schedule is crammed to end the season. Seems like they may run out of gas at some point; if they haven't already. Washington is ok. They are hot right now... Defense and goaltending wins playoffs. Ottawa has been an "under" team all year and Anderson is looking very very good. Offense would be a question. Islanders are a secret surprise. They can score and they can play some good defense. Not sure about Nabokov, but he has played in the playoffs before. Canadiens have surprised in past playoffs. Personally, don't really like them to get past the Leafs at all. Price stinks. His stupid non-chalante (however you spell it) attitude sucks and costs him and his team goals. at 5.00, they're a rip off. Rangers stink. Don't like Pittsburgh at that price. They blow it every year in the playoffs. Unless they've developed internally into a playoff team, don't like them (at that price). |

I guess but I still liked Anaheim...especially at that price. I just don't think Vancouver is that good. they are also very up and down and I had a feeling they's have a let down after they beat the hawks the other night. missed opportunity...ah well. little rattled because I had a jays/leafs -1.5 parlay. course the jays had a 3-0 lead and blew it quick. |

was really close to betting ducks. until I read a couple posts from some guys saying the ducks were sitting half their team and their top guys. darn. |

you guys talking about the ducks sitting half their team and their "top dogs" really really discouraged me from tossing one down on them. thanks a lot guys.

That sounds correct, but isn't exactly right. A delayed penalty, you can pull your goalie and have an extra attacker. This makes it very similar to a powerplay (just with 2 extra guys on the ice). In this case, you are still up a man for as long as you can and then will STILL have a 2 minute powerplay, technically making it an extended powerplay. This puts you up a man for more time and thus is usually preferred. Quote Originally Posted by Polar_Bear:

be careful, first game home after a road trip is often a let down spot.

I picked the Panthers/Capitals over simply based on the fact that the Panthers sometimes play wide open, high scoring hockey. At the + odds, I think it's a good bet and Holtby's hot play has to come to an end sooner or later. I think the Panthers are a good team to do that, along with allowing quite a few goals themselves. I'm thinking both teams get to 3 goals. I could be totally wrong and it's a 2-1 game easily though. I mainly like it for the + odds and Panthers style of play
ah ok, good reasoning. Florida is a tough team to bet on. It seems like they play well about 50% of the time and even during that 50%, the score goes up. Example, they played well against wpg the other night. They scored 4 but only let in 1. On the other hand, when they play bad, they let in maybe 4 or 5 goals but don't score. They're really tough to bet on, I find. I like the + odds, I often bet based on that too when I find teams are 50/50 or unpredictable. My reasoning for the under, Washington plays tight at home; both offense and defense. Holtby and Markstrum are both very good goalies. And since Florida is 50/50 on both scoring and getting scored on (IMO), I'm going to go with those trends that I see and go with the good tending and tight play. But, of course, I could be wrong and things could open up and goalies can cool down and all that kinda stuff. Good luck tonight! |

Enroth is horrible. Best play of the night. Also curious as to why you think the Panthers/Caps will be over? I feel an under in this game... |

Really bad luck with the late goal by TBL. Got lucky with the over in the LA/NSH game. Just a thing on over/unders. I'm not sure exactly what type of research and such that you do on each game, but I find that totals are better determined with feel as opposed to certain stats and starting goalies and such (unless Vokoun is in). I usually make my lean when i see the matchup (based on the two teams, how they're playing, they're general, respective styles of play (aganst eachother)) and then I'll checkout the starting goalies and lineup additions and omissions and things of that nature. But more often than not, I'll go with my initial lean. This season, I'm slightly above .500 on totals but I find the ones that I lose are because ridiculous things happen, eg. the 5 LA third period goals in about 6 minutes or whatever. Clearly that game was meant to go under and Rinne completely melts down. One comment, however. I love the over play you made earlier with Cal and Dal and your reasoning for it and research behind it. Great job! |

What a joke. I had the under in the LA game...of course. Faded the Pens/Lightning game. Was leaning towards the under in that one too (would have been good had it not been for two quick Pens goals/ Lindback playing...but more importantly, an empty netter (push) and a meaningless goal with seconds left). |
