Metaphysical thoughts for the weekend and how it affects game day thinking. Is there real separation between the two teams playing a football game? In reality, you can't have a football game without two teams. Just as one hand cannot clap, one team can't play the game alone.
For this reason, any game is a relationship. The different jerseys and sidelines gives the illusion of separateness but, in reality, there is no separation. Review of stats and the use of mental analysis creates duality when it doesn't really exist. The result of a battle between an offensive lineman and defensive lineman depends upon both the effort, skill, and stamina of both aspects. Now, there are so many individual battles going on in the game, position by position, greeting a very complex dance. Is the interaction a random walk of particles floating in the universe or is there some order to what is being observed? Does the observer create the order that they believe they deserve? There is so much complexity to the interaction, to every set of downs, to the plays that will be called, to which plays the refs will chose to call penalties. In the end, based upon the sheer volume of factors associated with each game, most everyone trying to predict the game is utilizing some form of intuition to chose their play. In the end, how will the dance unfold? How do you want the dance to unfold? How do you deserve it to unfold? Doesn't attachment to the outcome affect the outcome ("a watched pot never boils"). In the end, if the Universe wants you to win, you'll win. Can you learn from winning and not just from losing? Have you learned the lessons you are supposed to learn from losing? Are you ready to learn from winning? In the end, nobody really knows, but what can be learned from winning? How to manage greed? How to share? How to productively increase what is given. |

CFB 2013-2014 Record: NFL 2013-2014 Record: 3-3: -.3 Units 1-0: Plus 1 Unit I have 3 plays now, and expect another 12 throughout tomorrow. I anticipate all my plays being underdogs. The underdog. The one expected to lose. Of course, usually they do lose. However, in this game, we are going against a point spread. How do you get balanced action on games with a really crappie team that nobody wants to bet on? You make them cheap by giving them a lot of points. Of course, that is the theory. Florida International: +24.5 UMASS: +3.5 South Dakota: +23
