I've built up nearly a 3k bankroll from about 50 sessions of life play. Is that enough? Your correct on reading some literature. That is long overdue. A 3k bankroll isn't enough to play 1/2. Most would recommend at least 20 buy ins (BI) for a particular stake. For $200BI 1/2 we'd need 4k. Some recommend a 100BI bankroll for today's games. Swings are huge. Stay at 1/2 until you build up 10k and start taking shots at 2/5 when you reach 7k.

Ray threw his whole life away. His ignorance, lack of morals, and lack of self control cost him millions.

Don't move up yet...
I'm not sure where you are playing our how you are rolled but you don't sound like you are ready for 2/5. It sounds like you need to do some reading/study. I'm not up on the latest poker literature but maybe check out Harrington On Cash Games? Also Google some poker specific forums and start reading posting. There is no secret to beating 2/5. You must have a stronger understanding of game theory than your opponents, you must adjust your play to the mistakes that they are making, and you have to get lucky.

No one knows how much money Gus has except for Gus.
What is clear (and sad) is that he is out classed in the games/stakes he is playing in and won't quit beating his head against the wall. Now down 18.5 million since 2007 with a high water mark of +2.2 million in 2009... it's been all down hill for five years. Give it up Gus.

Different rooms have different rules...
Nothing you mentioned seems out of line... if you don't like the way a particular tournament is run then don't play in it. Tell your friend to relax. |

OP, you're a mess...
You get involved with woman you work with (in F&B/Hospitality, no less) and get jealous after one month? The girl you're after has kid whose father is in prison? What advice would you give your son if he was in your circumstances? |

Carbon (merge) has been trouble free for me so far with decent traffic and weak competition... I heard a rumor that they had stopped (temporarily) accepting U.S. customers however...
MUCH better software than Bodog... I did some research and Merge Network is where I landed. |

Gunners- I could write a book about this topic but I'll try to keep it short...
Lot's of variables contribute to a venues ability to handle volume... Point of sale (POS) is a major one... bringing an extra bartender on may not help if only one person can ring drinks at a time... some venues would be better off adding more POS than staff... Some would be better off adding another bartender... It really depends on the specifics of the bar/clientele and that's probably too specific to get into without writing a book... |
