We chat with Aron Black of Bet365 and online sportsbook BetDSI about the flow of action coming in on a few of Sunday’s Round of 32 NCAA tourney matchups:
Temple Owls vs. Indiana Hoosiers – Open: -12.5, Move: -11.5
With all the hype surrounding underdogs in the tournament thus far, it’s no surprise Temple is seeing significant action leading up to its Sunday tilt with the heavily-favored Hoosiers.
“Futures wise, we (Bet365) like Indiana,” Black told Covers. “We’ve got some good teams we want to see go down and some other good teams we hope have a Final Four run. Temple is one of the dogs seeing the most support.”
Florida Gulf Coast Eagles vs. San Diego State Aztecs – Open: -7.5, Move: -7, Move: -6.5
Florida Gulf Coast caught bettors’ attention with its huge upset over second-seeded Georgetown in the Round of 62 and now its seeing all kinds of action is flowing in on the Eagles.
“Dogs are very much the flavor (in this round), but the real value has been missed,” notes Black. “So many people don't have the guts to back big dogs in the first round, but then get all over them in the next round.”
FGC is seeing a 2-to-1 ticket advantage over favored San Diego State at BetDSI. Sharps disagree and have been backing the Aztecs at -7. Even after the line pushed to -7.5, sharps were buying it down to -7 and willing to lay the extra juice.
Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Miami Hurricanes – Open: -5.5, Move: -6.5, Move: -7.5
The Hurricanes have been a great bet down the stretch and bettors are expecting big things from Miami in the tourney. Some offshores opened the Hurricanes as 5.5-point favorites but the line has been pushed all the way to -8 at some Vegas books.
“Miami is the biggest ticket for the next set of games,” says Black. “The U is the most popular play so far.”
Black is seeing an overall increase in the amount of play as more and more upsets pile up.
“The action has been great so far on the tourney,” says Black. “The first round plays were quiet but that’s to be expected. Since then, the action is getting big. The in-play action has gone through the roof with so many exciting games and great finishes.”
