Similar, and cheaper, deals like this can be found all over Las Vegas when you leave the Vegas Strip. I overheard a couple 30-somethings talking about why they only stay at Red Rock Casino when visiting Las Vegas. They receive great service but are more impressed with the cost of everything.
This might sound strange because Red Rock is expensive compared to other locals casinos. There are cheaper deals at other casinos in the area but the rooms, pools, casino, and restaurants suit this couple. I’d add that Red Rock has a great sportsbook, but that’s another discussion.
Every year, I see more people visiting Las Vegas that are avoiding the Vegas Strip for one reason: money. Just about everything is less expensive when you stay off the Vegas Strip. There was a time when I looked at staying off the Vegas Strip as only a cheap place to sleep in Las Vegas. That’s changed over the years. The casinos not on the Vegas Strip are renovating and offering hotel rooms that don’t feel “cheap”. They’re opening new restaurants, offering better gambling odds, upgrading sportsbooks, have great pools, and are improving other amenities.
There may be nothing like the luxury experience on the Vegas Strip but the non-Strip casinos are catching up to and surpassing some of the pack. Many of the off-strip casinos have better gambling than the casinos on the Vegas Strip. You’ll often find the fairest odds at South Point and the Westgate sportsbooks. Many downtown Las Vegas casinos offer 10x odds in craps. Almost every casino off the Strip offers 3:2 blackjack. You’ll find great sportsbook viewing experiences at the Westgate, Red Rock, and Green Valley Ranch that may be better than most Vegas Strip casinos.
Pub 365 at Tuscany, Pizza Rock at Green Valley Ranch, and Yard House at Red Rock Casino all serve my favorite beer, Delirium Tremens. That’s the mark of a decent bar to me. You’ll often find stronger pours for cocktails at casino bars off the Vegas Strip. Both bars at The D offer good cocktails and the quieter option, Vue Bar, may offer the strongest cocktails at any casino bar. Coincidentally, Vue Bar happens to be one of my favorite video poker bars in Las Vegas.
It was almost impossible to find a good meal when I first started visiting casinos off the Vegas Strip. That’s not quite the case today. You can find a good meal at many different casinos off the Vegas Strip. If you leave those casinos and drive around the area you’ll find some even better restaurants.
If you’re not too picky, you can find some sick deals. Almost every week, I find a new happy hour deal where I can eat and drink for under $10, $15, or $20. Even if you pay for Uber or Lyft to these locations, you’ll still save money with these prices.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love the Vegas Strip. I don’t think there’s anything like it in the country. However, if you’re looking for something new and less expensive you might want to open your eyes to some of the casinos away from the action.
