I wish they would put in a clause you only get half your prize money for a walkover or retirement. Then I think you'll see far less retirements and lame ways of just essentially quitting because your losing.

I don't think guys are quitting just because they're losing, I think they are legitimately hurt. It's the end of a long season that's had an extra high profile tournament thrown in with the Olympics and it's probably the wear and tear that is taking its toll. I'd be shocked if Djokovic has won more than 3 matches by retirement in all his other majors combined, it's just crazy that he's benefitted from 3 in this tournament alone. Especially since he seems to be struggling with his own issues and if any of those guys could persevere a few more games, that might be the very moment Djoker blows something in his elbow and has to retire himself.
Still a great idea though to put a portion of their prize money on the line, at least make them think more about whether it's worth it or not. Because it has to be super frustrating for the fans that bought tickets and only see a set or 2 played.

Tell that to seva last night. Horrible performance. Clearly hurt early in first set but refused to quit so basically playing hitting practice with woz. Still crazy how she wouldn't retired esp there would be another hour of play since it was early in first set.

Don't know what she was trying to prove by playing hurt. Her face was like that she needs to take a big dump in the toilet. She just went through the motion to lose the game.
