MON +165 Here’s an interesting bet and probably not the best one but hear me out; Dallas comes in favored -155 on the road where they are a below .500 team. Better team? Probably. Catching Montreal coming back home after a long road trip? Yes. Does that always matter? No. Could it? Sure. It’s a situation I generally take the road team, but here, Montreal is 16-10 at home and the thing I really like is Antti Niemi at The Bell Centre. This guy has a .930 Save% on home ice …now get this, I’ve written in the past about how this guy is having a very good year, but his stats are skewed by a terrible first 6 weeks…from mid-November on, Niemi has a .950 Save% and a 1.91 GAA on home ice! That’s a pretty big factor against a team that doesn’t find as much success on the road as they do at home. And value-wise, I think it’s Montreal here and I’ll take a shot.
NASH -1 ½ +165 *half unit* The Jets are a high-end team but even top teams go through bouts of downtime during the long season. I feel like the Jets are dealing with that right now. They’ve lost 2-straight and have been outshot in their last 3 and now get to head into Nashville for the second of a back-to-back and finish up a long 6-game road trip? Gotta lean Preds here, even with the revenge factor for Winnipeg. Nashville has only allowed 21 goals in their last 12 home games (1.75) and they now sit atop the league in goals allowed. Hutchinson has played well in both his starts this year for Winny, but I’ve just never been a fan. Preds stifling D and Pekke Rinne get Nashville back in the win column on home ice.
TB -1 ½ -115 Ottawa got their fun win last night and get to travel across Florida to Tampa tonight where the Bolts have now won 9 of 10. They’ve covered the puck line only once in that stretch so why the puck line you ask? Because I fully expect them to win, but I’m not willing to lay the juice.
TB TTO 3.5 -135 Now, when the Bolts win, they score (obviously) but what I’m getting at is if you really think they win the game here then you have to assume they score…and they’ve scored 3 or more in their last 16 wins and 4 or more in 15 of those 16 wins.

Good luck, everybody. Gotta go shovel out the cars and head to work. One day a week I work and we get buried. Hope thats not a precursor to my luck tonight.

Niemi stops 33 of 35 for a .947 Save%. Right in line with his .950 Save% since mid-November on home ice. Guy has been really suprisingly solid!
If only I was smart enough to bet the world-beating Senators the last two games! They dropped SEVEN on Tampa today, lol. Wow!!

Thanks, guys. It was also apotential trap game for Dallas with Toronto looming the next day (today). Something I forgot to add in the write-up. Nice when those big dog bets work out!

PIT/NYR over 6 -116 My biggest worry here is rookie goalie Alexander Georgiev, who has been excellent thus far in his short stay in the big leagues with the Blue Shirts. I’m almost worried he could make this a tighter game then it should be. But, the Rangers, who are already brittle on defense just lost Tony DeAngelo, who was playing top minutes with Brady Skjei. That potentially means Mark Staal moving up to face the Pens #1 line, which is great news for Pittsburgh. In net for the Pens, Casey DeSmith has excellent home numbers but those drop to a .909 Save% and 2.99 GAA on the road. Similar to taking the over in a bunch of Rangers games lately, the premise is the same. I like their top 3 lines. I think there’s talent and that they can score a few, especially on home ice. But, as I’ve said a hundred times, they simply give up too many scoring chances against, and even as good as Georgiev has been, I think the Pens still break through on multiple occasions.
ANA -1 ½ +105 One of the reasons I’m not a big fan of March betting is that the juice on favorites generally explodes as Vegas factors in the same things we do: motivation. You see way more -200+ lines at this point of the year than any other month. So, you have three choices, you risk the heavy juice, stay away from sides altogether or lean towards the puck lines (as you’ve seen me do more often lately) to alleviate the juice. But, the line makes sense. You have a playoff team hungry for points and a Canucks team, out of it and just lost their top player. So, as I’ve said before, this Canucks team didn’t have a lot of offensive depth to begin with and just lost Brock Boeser and with him 55+ points and 175+ SOG gone from the lineup. Since he went down they’ve lost 4-straight, been shut out their last two and have scored only 3 goals in 4 games. It’s a pop-gun offense. Anaheim comes in losing its last three, but I expect a strong effort against a weak team on home ice tonight, where, prior to this losing streak, they had won 4 of 5 at home and covered the puck line in those 4 wins.
Good luck, everyone!
