Hey Guys, with the NBA season restarting I'm looking to "kick the books sideways," and I was thinking the best way of making that happen is by purchasing a sub from a Covers Expert. Anyhow, I was hoping you guys might recommend someone, as the sheer number of high quality experts makes it hard to choose just one (although I am open to buying two subs). I was thinking of going with someone like Ben Burns or Al McMordie. However, I also know that Ness and Fargo have been beating the books for years too. Any guidance you can provide would be great. Thanks, and BOLTA!

My advice is save your money and either try to pick games yourself or don't bother.
When people sign up to touts they inevitably get buried. Because 1st, they bet too much, because they are overconfident in the abilities of their 'guru' and because they need to try and win money just to cover what they spent on the pick service.
If a tout could really crush bookies for years why would they bother running a pick service and go through all the hassle of advertising it, etc?
The reason touts do what they do is because they know it's far easier to extract money from naive, often addicted gamblers than it is to beat the book. They can get the money without the risk. They can give all the guys from the west coast team A as their 'lock of the year' and the clients from the east team B and then 50% of the people will be happy enough to pay for more picks, and the losing 50% don't get refunds anyway (this happens less now but it did back in the day when services were phone only before the internet came in)
They all lie about their stats too so don't buy into that. Look at Marc Lawrence's page, he's one of the most well known guys yet if you check his recent results at any time of year his last 30 plays he is usually around 50% that's it. And we all have a 50% chance on any play on a spread or total!
Take a moment and think about how often a game comes down to what happens in the last few minutes, especially for spread purposes. You'll still be sweating out the end of games you'll just be paying more to do it.
There was a popular poster in the nfl forum who had a good year giving out free picks on the site. Then he got signed as a covers expert. He's a nice guy and all but I warned everyone that I could that he was going to most likely struggle as soon as he turned tout. I just knew it would happen. Some didn't listen, paid through the nose for his service and he got them all buried with picks like the Jets on MNF week 2 they scored 3 points the entire game.
There is no shortcuts to beating the bookie. And there is no worse feeling than losing a chunk of cash because some dude you never met sold you a bum pick. You get to pay him and your bookie, great deal! It's even worse when it's a pick where you actually liked the other side. And that WILL happen.

I can't stress this enough. Do not, I repeat... DO NOT!!! give them your money. For half of what they charge i'll come to your town and kick you square in the nuts. Atleast i'll take you out for a beer afterwards.
