At first look, this appears to be a close game because San Jose State is playing at home, and they have won several games this season. And BYU has some losses this year and has let some of their fans down with a loss to Utah and Notre Dame.
When when you take a close look at this game, BYU looks to have the solid advantage for several reasons. First off, the Spartans have played nobody in the last month. They were favored by an average of 18.5 points in their last four games and have not been seriously tested in awhile.. The last hard game the Spartans played was five weeks ago when they were blown out by a Utah State team that scored 49 popints on the Spartan defense. That same Utah State team managed only one field goal in a loss to BYU one week earlier.
IMO BYU has too much pass defense for the Spartan O-Line. They are more battle tested after having played Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Oregon State, and Utah this year. Some people say the Cougars should have beat Notre Dame in South Bend.
I like what San Jose State has done this season. They are an improved team. Their QB is getting better and better. But they just dont have the fire power to match up against a tough BYU team. The Cougars are better than their record states, and I see the final score: BYU-27 San Jose St-17

Byu 24 at San Jose St. 30 "The locals in San Jose aren't even missing the locked-out NHL Sharks, as SJSU football has the South Bay abuzz. Not to mention a growing legion of supporters in Las Vegas sports books after Spartan covers in 11 of last 13. Despite the impressive numbers posted by BYU's rock-ribbed "D" (ranks 4th), Cougs haven't faced many accomplished passers like San Jose QB Fales (25 TDP).
Cougs have already accepted Poinsettia Bowl bid."
Fully agree with GS's "reverse win" with this one! San Jose State not only 8-2 straight up, but also 8-2 vs. point spread home and away!
Very few watching out for this game. Consider this one to be a late, 10:30 p.m. little-known secret weapon to "make a come-back", if necessary.
Will have faith in rising super-star QB David Fales (3125 YDs and 25 TDs) to put up plenty of points, and win the game outright on this final play of the day!

I just like the over, feel it could go either way. Like the first write up. BYU is battle tested. Should be a good game to watch. THe 48.5 is too low. Although hate seeing the BYU games vs good opponents so low. I think they both let loose in this one.
