Virginia Tech -20: Really haven't seen much action either way on this game. Va Tech obviously missing a very important player in forward Tobi Lawal, this kid if you haven't seen him play is really electric, big guy who can really move and score the basketball. He got hurt in a tournament game against Colorado St. that the Hokies won, but they turned around and lost the next 2 days to St. Mary's and VCU. Just a 'perfect storm' for the Hokies to lose their only 2 games so far this season. They righted the ship to win in OT at a good S. Carolina and by 11 at home over a previously unbeaten G. Mason team. Losing Lawal's team-best 10.3 RPG hurts, but scoring wise the Hokies will be just fine going for now with 6 other guys averaging more than 9 PPG. It might be concerning if the Hokies had tough conference games coming up, but they play W. Carolina tonight, UMES and Elon in a leisurely home schedule before the Christmas break. No need to hold anything back against a bad W. Carolina team that is ranked a lowly 270 in Ken-Pom and coming off a dismal loss to SC-Upstate. They have lost 6 straight road games and haven't covered in any of them including getting bludgeoned by 31 by Cincy and 41 to Duke. Gonna take my chances that the Hokies keep pouring it on for the better part of 40 minutes and cover what seems to be a pretty manageable spread against a poor opponent. 0.75 units.
