BC Lions +6
Much like Hamilton last week this looks like a popular play on the board this week and I believe just like Hamilton it is the right side.
The simple question I have with the Stamps right now is, are they priced out? I mean where do you go after a 56-15 win? To buy Calgary right now is buying at the highest of highs and that is something that long term is simply a losing strategy. These two teams met here just 2 games ago and the line was only Calgary -2. Now we get 4 extra points? While Calgary did come away from that game with a 5 point win, the game numbers were very close and indicated the score could have been closer than it was.
With the Lions we have a desperate team coming off a bye that is looking to turn their season around, a good situation for them even more so when you consider they are winless at home so far this year. They get Casey Printers back this week too and he's looked real good in practice by all accounts and I think he'll give this team a real shot in the arm. Despite their struggles the Lions still have a really good defense. In fact they are ranked 3rd best in the league which is quite remarkable when you consider that they have been on the field the most in the league by far this year because the offense has been horrible. Good defenses getting points at home are always attractive plays. And who is Calgary to be laying this type of lumber on the road? The Stamps have looked very ordinary on the road this year and it's just tough to win by this kind of margin on the road in this league. Of the 30 games so far this year only 4 have produced a road winner by 7 or more points.
Give me a desperate home dog, off a bye, with their QB back, and a very good defense getting 6 against a team that I believe is maxed out in terms of their price right now.
