CJ Cup Byron Nelson picks and predictions
Min Woo Lee to win outright (+3,300)
Lee hasn’t played competitively since finishing T22 at the Masters, and his distance will play well at TPC Craig Ranch. He’s third in true strokes gained off-the-tee and 14th in true strokes gained tee-to-green, so the emerging star should have plenty of birdie opportunities this week.
This will be especially important on the three Par 5s, where having circles on the card on those three holes has proven critical, so Lee ranking 13th in Par 5 scoring average is another plus. Additionally, while impossible to quantify, Aussies have historically had success in Texas.
Lee also has eight Top 25s across his past 13 events, including a T2 in the Cognizant Classic at the demanding PGA National. I also recommend backing Lee at +165 at DraftKings to finish Top 20.
Pick: Min Woo Lee to win outright (+3,300 at BetMGM)
CJ Cup Byron Nelson field and favorites
With the PGA Championship just a few weeks away, there aren't many big names in this weekend's tournament. Jordan Spieth is favored at around +1,400, but the World's No. 20 hasn't had the greatest 2024. He's missed as many cuts as he has T10s, although he shared T10 honors with four other golfers at the Valero Texas Open earlier this month.
Si Woo Kim and Jason Day sit neck-and-neck on the odds board right around +1,800. Jason Day won this tournament last season at the very same odds, but the Aussie is yet to come close to winning this year.
As for Kim, he'll look to improve on his T18 finish at the RBC Heritage, where he finished with a 71 on Sunday after three straight days of sub-70. Will Zalatoris was right behind Kim and Day, but word from his camp came out that the Texas-born golfer was pulling out of the competition.
