Had a big night last night, hitting my largest play of the year with the Mets and reaching my high-water mark for the season. Thought I had a chance at 5-0, but the Giants just cannot hit in consecutive games. Cain definitely pitched well enough to win, but so did Jason Johnson. Good to see him successful again.
I'm not thrilled with today's card. There's a couple plays I really like, and a few I'm gonna take a chance on. I hate playing totals, but after capping everything, my favorite play is indeed a total, so I'll give it one more shot.
Wednesday:
Chicago White Sox/Minnesota over 9.5 (-105) 1.5 units - Livan has allowed 13 ER and 28 H in his last 17 1/3 IP. Floyd has a road ERA of 5.29 and in his last 3 starts he has an ERA of 6.14 and a huge WHIP of 2.11. Minnesota hits .297 at home against righties, and the Sox a decent .262 on the road against righties. Minnesota is also the best hitting team with runners in scoring position in the majors.
Oakland ML (-126) - Hard to back Oakland when they've lost 11 of 13, but I like the match up today. Bannister is 2-5 with an 8.60 ERA on the road. In his last 5 he's allowed 25 ER and 36 H in only 24 2/3 IP. Gallagher has proven solid thus far for the A's, posting a low ERA and giving the team a chance to win. I think the bats shake the rust today against Bannister.
Chicago Cubs ML (+109) - Parra has a 4.50 home ERA. Dempster in his last 2 has thrown 14 innings, only allowing 1 run on 8 hits. Despite his 1-3 road record, he has a solid ERA in the lower 3's. The Cubs hit .285 against lefties, while the Brewers hit in the low .250's against righties. The Cubs saved their best 3 pitchers for this series and could deal a crushing morale blow to Milwaukee if they can sweep them in Miller Park.
Arizona ML (-134) - OK, I'll bite. I'll lay the road chalk with the D-Backs. Here's how dominant Haren has been: in his last 10 starts he has allowed only 59 total base runners in 71 innings pitched. that's a WHIP of .65 over a 10 start stretch. That's flat out sick. Baek at home is 0-4, 6.75.

Weathered - I'm decent at best, but on a good run. Looking forward to keeping a running total for hockey this year. I think I'm gonna keep one total for all NHL games and a separate one for just Caps games.

Green, I considered your Tigers for a while, as they hammer lefties, but I can't back Robertson. However, it'd be Detroit or nothing for me on that one.

This series at Miller Park is a four-gamer. With Harden going against Bush tomorrow, this match will likely be the Brewers only real chance at salvaging a 'W'.
Additionally, I suspect they'll be able to get at least one win, from this four game set.

Nice pick-up on the Mets last night.
My bad, didn't realize it was a 4 gamer. Thanx man

Houston ML (-112) - I've been fading Volquez his last 6 starts, 4 times successfully. I will continue to fade him tonight, as I believe Dusty has used up his lively arm. It is no secret that Dusty kills young arms, and he is well on his way to ruining a very promising pitcher in Volquez. In Volquez's last 2 starts he's allowed 9 runs on 15 hits in only 9 innings of work. He's struck out 5 or less in 6 of his last 7 starts after striking out 8 or more in 6 of his first 7.
On the contrast, Wandy Rodriguez has won his last 3 starts. In his last 2 he has allowed 2 ER on 12 hits in 12 2/3 innings. He sports a home ERA of 2.54 and a WHIP of 1.11 on the season. Houston is hitting .287 their last 10, .305 against righties, compared to the Reds' .238 their last 10, .250 against lefties. The Astros have taken 8 straight from the Reds, including all 4 this season. The Reds have lost their last 5 games overall.
