Somehow I went 5-0 yesterday. And I'll explain a bit on how I got that LUCKY.
First...the Giants are down 3-0. They look lifeless. Scratch 2 runs back. Give up another. Then hit a 2 run homer in the 9th. Finally win by a pretty lucky play in extras.
Then...the Cards are down 4-1. Holliday comes up...hits a 2 run homer in the 6th, and look lifeless until...the 9th. Leadoff walk from the guy whose 20 years younger than Hoffman. Then the veteran Molina swings at the first pitch for an out. Then Freese swings at the first pitch for an out. And my new favorite player, Nick Stavinoha comes up and...with 2 strikes...goes on he knees (well...he got down there) and got me my victory.
And finally...Tony Pena, with 2 strikes against Hardy...throws TWO BEAUTIFUL pitches that, by the naked eye, look to have painted the corner each time, but were called balls. Both times Pena walks off the mound. And the next pitch...Hardy singles past the 2nd shortstop and Mauer scores to give me a win in the 11th inning. And on top of that...Rios tries to steal 2nd with 1 out in the bottom of the 11th...gets thrown out...and 3 pitches later...the next batter gets a hit which would have been a complete game changer. Oh yea...I had to come back a few times in that game too.
INCREDIBLE.
Cubs +110

Zambrano pitched well against the Reds. Last season he faced them twice and even though the Cubs were only 1-1 in those starts...he had a 1.98 ERA in 13.2 innings. Here is a little breakdown of the Reds hitters against Big Z.
Rolen .182 (8-44) 2 HR...4 RBI
Phillips .200 (8-40) 1 HR...4 RBI
Votto .400 (8-20) 2 RBI
Hernandez .167 (2-12)
Bruce .300 (3-10) 1 HR...2 RBI
Cabrera .500 (204 2 RBI
So some guys are good...some are not as good. But what I do know is this. Usually good pitchers know how to bounce back from poor performances. Now you can say Big Z sucks and what not...but you know he's a really solid pitcher no matter how much rage and mental problems this guy has. Last season...Zambrano gave up 4+ runs 5 times (6 but that was in the finale and won't help this stat). And he's always bounced back. In the 5 games following those 5 bad performances...he has a 2.69 ERA. He went 7 innings 3 times...6 innings another time...and had 1 bad subpar start where he went 3.1 innings. He only gave up 3 earned in that subpar game but 11 hits. The under was also 4-1 in those games if anyone is interested in that. With that said...I expect him to bounce back and dominate this game. But that's not the only reason I like this game. Harang isn't exactly CY Young against the Cubs. Last season, in 3 starts, he had a 3.54 ERA and the Reds were 1-2. But...the Cubs hit him REALLY well.
Lee .268 (15-56) 5 HR...12 RBI
A-Ram .306 (15-49) 4 HR...9 RBI
Theroit .278 (10-36) 3 RBI
Soriano .258 (8-31)
Nady .370 (10-27) 1 HR...3 RBI
Fontenot .389 (7-18) 1 HR...7 RBI
Soto .333 (5-15) 1 HR...4 RBI
Fukudome .400 (6-15)
Byrd .500 (3-6) 1 HR...1 RBI
Now I don't exactly know who will be playing...but any mixture of those guys would be fine. If only Byrd, Fukudome and Nady could play the outfield and let Soriano sit but I doubt Sweet Lou would do that. Anyway...it seems fine for me. I'll take the Cubs as a solid dog here.
BOL All. Have A Great Day.
