Whoa!!!!! Without Cliff Lee...odds are you don't beat the Rays. He may have been 3-2 in the playoffs...but he was 3-0 in the American League in the playoffs by giving up 2 runs in 24 innings. During the regular season...that 4-6 record came while dealing with his bum back.
I agree that talking shit to a team that just eliminated the team he was on in the playoffs isn't exactly a good idea...but I agree that the Rangers won't be better without Lee.

yeah and his era was 2.92...wins/losses means nothing...and for the record his career record is over 500 in arlington...and the rangers would be a lot better off having him then not having him..thats foolish to think otherwise

Lee is the first Rangers player to give up three homers in his debut with the team since Ryan Snare on August 6, 2004...Texas honored Michael Young prior to the game for capturing the team's all-time hits record earlier in the season. He went 1-for-4...Tillman's allowed run was unearned...Lee struck out two and walked none, raising his strikeout-to-walk ratio to 91-to-6...Lee has historically struggled in Texas, compiling a 7.33 earned run average in eight career starts there...Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton had his 29-game home hit streak come to an end after an 0-for-4 game. The team record is 30 games, accomplished by Al Oliver in 1981.

Of course not. He had a 2.63 ERA in June, July and August in 2009.
He handled the Angels in 95 degree Arlington weather last season.
The A's and Yankees in 91 degrees in Arlington.
The Red Sox in 88 degrees in Fenway.
It's no coincidence that he pitched poorly at the same time he took some time off with his back injury.

I don't know about you...but that 2.94 ERA in Arlington last season was pretty damn good. Even more impressive was the .205 BA opposing teams hit against him there.

His ERA is just over 4 in Arlington since 2008. And if he's the type of calibur pitcher that Cliff Lee is...then hell yea. If it's Javier Vazquez...of course not.
Do you honestly think you would have beaten the Rays if you didn't have Cliff Lee dominate in Game's 1 and 5?

I'm sorry but it doesn't work both ways. If you're 1 and done in the playoffs...how many fans do the Rangers lose? Lets be honest...until you got Lee...Arlington wasn't exactly a baseball town. If they don't get Lee...everything changes. Even when Lee wasn't pitching well, they still put him out there for those 8-9 innings. So you spare the bullpen. If you don't have him...you have Harden or Feldman in the rotation where you'll probably be even worse than 7-8, they don't go as far into games and the bullpen gets worn down. Maybe they don't make the playoffs as the worn down bullpen blows a bunch of games down the stretch to Oakland and the A's are now in the playoffs. Or they do make it and they lose to the Rays...then are the fans really going to stay on the bandwagon being one and done? No...they're going to go back to the Cowboys.
I'm just saying...Cliff Lee was the best thing that has ever happened to the Rangers.

Sure...you can be more positive and say the replacement would have been better than Lee...they would have somehow pulled out the win against the Rays and then beat the Giants because Lee didn't get hammered...but, imo, what I said is more realistic.
I'm trying not to bash the Rangers. I'm sorry if it comes across like that. However...I think Cliff Lee was THAT big of an impact on the Rangers.
