Fresh off the heels of a plea from Windsor West MP Brian Masse to the Senate to approve Bill C-290, the Windsor (Ontario) Chamber of Commerce is now making an 11th hour push to have the single-game wagering bill approved.
President and CEO of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce, Matt Marchand, was in Ottawa Thursday to explain just how passing of the bill would benefit border cities like his.
From the Windsor-Star:
The bill has been stuck in the Canadian Senate since December despite there being strong support and being passed unanimously in the House of Commons.
If Bill C-290 does die in the Senate, Canada could miss out on the estimated $14 billion that is wagered on single-sports events illegally whether online or with local bookies.
