Jawon Pass threw for 196 yards and four touchdowns Saturday night as Louisville blanked FCS foe Eastern Kentucky 42-0, giving Cardinals coach Scott Satterfield his first win on the job.

Pass completed 12 of 19 passes with an interception as Louisville (1-1) pulled away with two third-quarter touchdowns. The Cardinals were playing their second game in six days, having opened their season on Monday night with a home loss to Notre Dame.

Javian Hawkins added 123 yards on 11 carries for Louisville, which outgained the Colonels 542-172 despite trailing in time of possession by almost six minutes.

Pass put his team on the board just 1:47 into the game. He shoveled a pass to Tutu Atwell, who zipped 50 untouched yards down the right sideline for a 7-0 lead. Atwell set up the Cardinals' next score with a 33-yard punt return that put them at the Eastern Kentucky 15.

Two plays later, Pass found Marshon Ford for a 5-yard scoring strike and a 14-0 advantage with 2:17 left in the first quarter.

Eastern Kentucky had a chance to make it game early in the second quarter, thanks to a 12-play drive. But on fourth-and-5 at the Louisville 25, quarterback Conor Blount was sacked for a 7-yard loss by Jared Goldwire to quash the threat.

The Cardinals ran off and hid in the third quarter. Hawkins ripped off a 66-yard run to the 5 on the quarter's first snap, and Pass hit Ford for their second 5-yard touchdown of the game on the next play. Louisville made it 28-0 with 3:58 left in the period on Pass' 5-yard scoring toss to Dez Fitzpatrick, capping a 93-yard drive that lasted nearly seven minutes.

Hassan Hall and backup quarterback Malik Cunningham tacked on touchdown runs of 1 and 38 yards, respectively, in the fourth quarter.

The Colonels used two quarterbacks, but neither could consistently move the team. Blount was 6 of 12 for 43 yards, while Parker McKinney completed 3 of 4 passes for minus-1 yard. Daryl McCleskey Jr. led the way on the ground with 78 yards on 22 carries.
