Northern Illinois 41, Army 40: Quarterback Jordan Lynch accounted for five touchdowns and 467 yards as the visiting Huskies won a shootout against the Cadets.
Lynch's fourth scoring pass of the day, an 8-yarder to Martel Moore with 4:29 to play, capped the scoring. He also connected with Moore on a 31-yard TD pass early in the fourth quarter to put Eastern Illinois (2-1) ahead 35-34 after Army had ripped off 21 unanswered points.
Lynch was 18-of-27 for 342 yards with the four touchdowns and one interception and also rushed for 125 yards on 13 carries, including an 88-yard scoring run. Moore had seven catches for 134 yards.
Larry Dixon scored three touchdowns and rushed for 136 yards for Army (0-2), which piled up 486 of its 494 total yards on the ground.
Raymond Maples ran for 159 yards and a touchdown and Trent Steelman added 116 yards and two scores, the second of which put Army ahead 40-35 with 8:55 to play.
