I will be laying off this game as im trying not to wager on skins this year but I have to disagree with your thinking.

Smoot, Rogers, and springs at corners and taylor and landry at safeties. How can you question the backfield?

Take a look at the offensive line. Skins have one of the best in the league with samuels, kendall, thomas, and jansen.

Opening day in Washington is a big deal (5-2 in openers at fed ex)

I would love to hammer the ML here but as mentioned will lay off wagering on my team.

SF, skins are going to be profitable this year. You gotta jump on, especially since it's your team.

My team, which is coming off the equivalent of a Sports natural disaster, Atlanta Falcons are too volatile for me to bet on.

I'm adopting the Skins and Lions this year.

SportsFanatic - Ah yes, i forgot about Fred Smoot. The Redskins 2ndary doesn't look all that bad. I overheard John Clayton of ESPN touting Landry as one of best rookie safety this year. I disagree (just for this game/matchup) and we'll see about that come Sunday.

Im not crazy about Jason Campbell as any die-hard Skins fan would be, but heck, he's a big step up over Patrick Ramsey. I'll never forget how awful Ramsey was behind that Washington offensive line, even though Redskins were 2nd-to1st in total sacks allowed. With the addition of Kendall at LG and Campbell as the feature fly-back, the Skins will be much better this year.

But for this matchup, I'll take Trent Green over Jason Campbell. I'll be very suprised of Washington gets a rushing TD in this game. Miami's rush defense is tops and i believe they only allowed only 7 rushing TDs last year. The charts for Portis and Betts looks decent. I'm not fearful of Washington's rushing attack as much as i am of Santana Moss in stride.

Personally, i don't really have any allegiance to any team. But since  i am in Chicago i root for the Bears. However, i'll bet against the Bears when and if i have to. I'll be taking San Diego -6 this Sunday as a matter of fact. Don't have to bet w/ your heart, i say.

So, why would any Skins fan doubt a loss in their home opener?

GL this season, SF. You always do well.

Was thinking about creating another thread for Thursday night's match-up between the Colts and Saints but I'll just post the pick here for the record.

Charts for Drew Brees, Deuce McAllister, and Reggie Bush don't look good, so, its a play on...

Indianapolis Colts -6 (+100)

GaryPhilly - I too think Trent Green is done. But he wouldn't look like it after he beat the Redskins on Sunday However, i don't think Miami will go far with Trent Green at the helm.

sportsfanatic said it all.....happykane you are wrong my friend...and if this is your big pick then something is terribly wrong with your brain...the dolphins o-line is as wretched as it gets and trent will be on his back alot this year,  maybe a concussion  in week 1...from landry none the less.  landry is a stud and any one who thinks otherwise is retarded.  the skins are in the same system, the dolphins are in transition, granted their D is what it is but its also older and older.  i don't like either team(born and raised in FL) so i'm not biased.   how can you bag on a secondary of Springs, Rogers, Landry, Taylor, Macklin, Smoot, and Butler.......isn't that better than W. Allen, T. Daniels, Yeremiah Bell, R. Hill, A. Goodman, and M. Lehan.
I don't think Trent is done but he needs time which he won't get.  from what i have seen Cambell is coming along. I also like the addition of L. Fletcher better than J. Porter.  flip a coin bro....by the way, if you want some moneyline action put it on the Saints ML

  • Dolphins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0.
  • Personally, I have not seen anything, and I mean, ANYTHING in Trent Green that says he's going to have a good year. He used to be a great and underappreciated QB, but that offense is a joke. Trent Green after his last concussion was good enough to keep his job in KC, Huard was a better qb for the. I dont like this pick at all. Im not taking the skins although I lean that way, but Im gonna be on the under. Why would you pick the Dolphins? They suck. End of story.

    Reason:

#1) Take the better QB. Trent Green is still a very serviceable QB. He's better than Jason Campbell and Brunnel combined.

#2) Miami's defense is better, for this particular matchup. The only 3 noticeably decent defenders for Washington are London Fletcher, DE Daniels and CB Springs. Redskins backfield is very suspect, im talking about the corners and safeties.

#3) With all that in mind, Miami's passing attack will be superior to what the Redskins have on defense. Trent Green will pick that inexperienced backfield apart with Marty Booker, Chris Chambers, Ted Ginn Jr., and Az-Zahir Akim. I've ran biorhythm charts and other charts for Miami's receivers versus Washington's defenders. It's a total mismatch.

    Caveats:

#1) Redskins do have the better rushing attack. Clinton Portis behind Mike Sellers should have a decent day. Although i think they'll still have a rough time running against 5 Pro-Bowlers in Keith Traylor, Vonnie Holliday, Zach Thomas, and Jason Taylor.

#2) Dolphins 2ndary isn't that great either. Best players for both teams are Will Allen and Shawn Springs.

    #3) Trends:

    • Dolphins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0.
    • Redskins are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite.
    That's all for now. BBL.

Dolphin defense this year will be top3 that alone is enough to expect a close game vs any team and give value to miami ML. The miami front seven may be the best in the league. The offense will be shotty as it has been, but like the pick. Campbell vs green even given the bad offense, experience should make a few more plays, expect Jason to be running for his life all game.

    MIAMI DOLPHINS

Okay folks. I rescind the EASY MONEY comment. After further researching and speculating i see this game as a close contest throughout.

So, now, this game is a NO PLAY for me.

I've found another game i like and will post that pick soon in another thread. It's the ATLANTA vs MINNESOTA game.

Like the fins, skins start 0-1, stop moss and it's over.
Moss is the key to moving the ball.

This game won't be a pretty one to watch. Both defences are much better than the opposing offences. Miami has a better defence with Taylor and Thomas, but with a new quarterback, new scheme and an uncertain situation in the backfield, The Skins have the edge offensively. In a hostile environment I believe that Miami loses this one in a close but low scoring game. Skins 17 Miami 13 IMO.
