Recap

Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 2: The shoe was on the other foot for visiting Boston as it rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to snap a three-game losing skid to start the season.

After watching their bullpen struggle in the season-opening series, the Red Sox buckled Blue Jays closer Sergio Santos (0-1) in the ninth inning.

Dustin Pedroia hit a leadoff double then advanced to third on a passed ball, tying the score on a sacrifice fly by Adrian Gonzalez. Santos walked two batters and gave up the go-ahead run on a single to Ryan Sweeney. Boston added its final run on a wild pitch.

Pedroia got the Red Sox on the board with a solo shot over the left-field wall in the top of the sixth. He finished 2-for-4 and has two doubles and two home runs on the season.

Felix Doubront gave up two runs on four hits, striking out six and walking five before being replaced by Scott Atchison (1-0) after five innings. Atchison was a breath of fresh air for a struggling Boston bullpen, giving up only one hit and totaling three strikeouts. Alfredo Aceves picked up the save.

Toronto opened the scoring when Colby Rasmus turned a drop shot to right field into a triple, sparking a two-run third inning. Rasmus beat the tag at home on an RBI infield single from Kelly Johnson, then, with runners at first and second, Edwin Encarnacion gave the home side a 2-0 lead with an RBI single to left.

Blue Jays starter Henderson Alvarez gave up one run on four hits in six solid innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rogers Centre limited beer sales to one per customer, per trip for the 500 level seating … Toronto's Jose Bautista was given his 2011 Silver Slugger award before the game … Boston 3B Kevin Youkilis is 0-for-12 to start the season.
