I'm a huge MLS / USA soccer fan. Season ticket holder to the New York Red Bulls, travel to a lot of games for both club and country games.
With that said, I watch a lot of American soccer.
Two picks for tonight's CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals:
Real Salt Lake PK (-125):
RSL is one of the best teams in MLS and in my opinion may be the best team in the league. Only lost Robbie Findley from last years team.
Meanwhile, Columbus has lost nearly a dozen guy's from last year's second place team in the Eastern Conference including playmaker Schelotto and long time US defender Frankie Hedjuk.
RSL thinks they can win the whole thing and rightfully so, they have quality at every facet of the field.
I think they go into Crew Stadium and get the job. The cold weather shouldn't bother this well oiled machine.
Risk: 2 units. To win: 1.6 units. PK -125.
Second Pick:
RSL PK -125 / Cruz Azul +100.
Risk: .5 unit. To win: 1.3 units.
Let's go RSL and best of luck to all. I'll be a regular here during MLS season.

Have to admit I was a little surprised by the line, to get RSL PK at minimal juice I thought was a nice bonus.
Columbus has some dangerous players... Gaven stands out. But they don't seem to want this game much. They are in a rebuilding stage and to be playing this caliber of game against a team with chemistry that has stated the importance of winning this tournament... I really, really like the odds.
Can Columbus sneak out a point? Or perhaps a 0-0 draw... it's possible, but I don't see RSL losing tonight.

Lineups are out, Columbus are debuting 5 players into their lineup. Hesmer, O'Rourke, Marshall all out of the lineup. A very raw defense and a backup goakeeper in the net.
RSL have a full starting XI ready to go from last season. The line is way off here. Jump on RSL if you can!

0-0 draw at Crew Stadium which saw me lose .5 unit on the late added RSL to win line, but Cruz Azul cruised (see what I did there), to get the half unit back.
Tonight, we have 2 more CCL games. Saprissa is a very tough home team and I like them to beat Olimpia at home.

When Olimpia went down a man, Saprissa winning that match was in the bag.
On to tonight's 2nd leg tilt between RSL and Columbus.
The first leg was played on a frozen pitch at an obnoxiously slow pace which really took RSL off their game.
Should be a solid crowd tonight at Rio Tinto Stadium, early reports indicate 14,000 tickets distributed for the match (75% capacity). For those that don't watch Major League Soccer, Real Salt Lake has one of the longest home beaten streaks in not only MLS, but the world. The last time they lost at home was in May.... of 2009. They have gone close to 30 games in a row at home without a loss.
Columbus has had trouble with this team in the past and with 0-0 in the first leg, RSL will find the vital goal to make the difference in this match.
Real Salt Lake to Win (-200). Risk: 2 units. To win: 1 unit.
Under 2.5 goals (-155) is significant juice. Wouldn't shock me if this game is 1-0 or 2-1, so not worth the risk.
Getting -200 for a team that hasn't lost at home in nearly 2 years are great odds... especially in a knockout match format.

RSL extends their home unbeaten streak to an astonishing 34 games with a 4-1 victory over Columbus. Morales was fantastic scoring a brace. RSL is primed for another big year, and I'm sure I'll be playing them quite a bit this season. Their home form is one of the best kept secrets in the soccer gambling world.

Will post a couple more plays in the morning, but one stands out to me thus far...
FC Dallas (-150) vs Chicago Fire.
Chicago is in rebuilding mode and starts the season against one of the league's best teams. Dallas should have no problems with the Fire and will get a nice leg up in the Brimstone Cup.
FC Dallas to win. Risk: 1 unit. To win: .67 units.
