Magic @ Celtics: Celtics -4.5
Magnificent measuring stick for Orlando tonight. Boston certainly won’t be overlooking them tonight like they did in the 17 point loss 3 weeks ago. If memory serves, that was also an IST game which had some extra incentive for Orlando in the way of point differential.
If I had to pick a side, it would be Boston. Magic have been a wonderful surprise first quarter of the season. 11-2 at home and just barely hitting that admirable .500 mark on the road at 5-5. Looking closer, those 5 road wins were @Portland, @Utah, @Chicago, @Chicago again, and @Indiana. The win against the pacers is by far the most impressive, but not only are they not on the level of the Celtics but it was a really weird spot. Indiana had four days off leading in to that game, coming off a win against the bucks and a 1-1 split in Philly. Orlando jumped out to a 42-21 lead in the first and ballooned 78-44 by half. Pacers were clearly a bit asleep in the first half of that game and there’s zero reason to believe Orlando will catch Boston sleeping tonight. Even in the last game they played, Boston led by 11 after the first but took their foot off the pedal. Again, no reason to believe that will happen tonight with revenge on their mind and the hometown crowd support.
I really just intended to congratulate you on a solid season so far, but couldn’t help discussing the pick a bit. Started with a “I’m not betting this, but if I did it would be that side” sort of mentality. May have talked myself into a play as I typed out my thoughts. We shall see.
Either way, best of luck tonight my Bunyip Brother
