These Philly fans are just getting used to winning so I have to cut them some slack. It had been about 26 years since the town had a world championship in any sport (Sixers in 1983), so you can clearly see why they don't know how to handle situations like this. I mean since 1983 they really have had nothing to speak about sports wise between the 1993 Mitch Williams debacle, to the countless NFC Championships that the Eagles have lost right in front of their very eyes at home, to the Super Bowl that they lost and their genious Senator launched an investigation into whether or not the Patriots cheated, wasting more taxpayer's money.
The Phillies won the world series last year and now all of a sudden the Phillies just have to show up to the field and will be granted the title just because they won the first game. With all of the Phils comeback grit you would think that their fans would be smart enough to realize that it ain't over till its over, but I know that asking people from Philly to use their brains and be smart is a tall task.
But really its a lose-lose for the Yankees. If they lose we have to hear about how money doesn't buy championships, and if they win we have to hear about how money does buy championships and it means nothing because it was purchased. Which is clearly also comical because the people who make those assertions know nothing about economics and capitalism the free markets that make this country the greatest country in the world. These are probably the same dimwits who voted for Obama and are looking for handouts from the government and are quick to blame other people for their failures and point fingers at every one else.

all of what you said, and one other thing.........in general Philly consists of a certain "class" of person(s).....that is clear as day and comes across in almost every thread in this forum, as it does in life

Yeah I tell you what I am not a NYY fan or PHI fan but as much crap as I have given you NYY fans these PHI fans are far worst. OMG how could you predict my team will lose they ask? Don't you know that they are better on all aspects of the game they demand. It is frankly comical. It is a seven game series and they are only one quarter of the way there but the series is clearly over with. It is almost not worth posting anymore the plays because people jump all over it due to the emotional baggage they are carrying.
Seriously, this is getting beyond ridiculous. BOL!

Not quite sure which "class" you are reffering to but your generalization makes you look like an ignorant, uneducated person indeed.

Yes last night. This will all be settled within a week or so. No reason to be a typical homer.
So I am a typical homer because my home team happens to be the better team
I have forgotten more about baseball than you have ever known. I went to college on a baseball scholarship and I played semi-pro for 3 years. Now I am a financial analyst at a global asset management company and I help coach high school baseball. The Phillies have a better team that is not over hyped like the Yankees and if anybody has the edge in pitching tonight it is the Phillies. Pedro has pitched better than Burnett. Everybody is saying that this isn't the same Pedro. Well theyre right but this Pedro is much smarter and keeps hitters off balance which is much more important than throwing hard. But the average fan doesn't realize that. Although I think they will both get hit, Phillies can put up Happ who is also better than Burnett or Hughes or Joba. On top of this you can get +180. This is a no brainer. Even if you think that it is a coin flip why would you not take the +180? Or are you one of those who believe that vegas knows the outcome of games before they are played and "trap" people into taking one side?

some fair points made by IraisAllin with one exception.....Pedro does not have the edge on Burnett......while I get your point about Pedro being more a pitcher than thrower now (and certainly more than AJ), for all Pedro says to the contrary, he is not comfortable at Yankee Stadium pitching in front of NYY fans....he never was in his prime, and he won't be now, as a "pitcher/non-thrower"....your point on Happ is a good one though....if Manuel has a short lease with Pedro, it may not matter that much
can argue with people seeing +180 as a good play
me, I will be on the over, rooting for 8-10 runs from the Yanks

I am also thinking about putting a couple of units on the over. I can't imagine losing both the phils ml and the over as I see the phils putting up at least 4

The definition of a homer is someone who cannot see the other side and frankly I am done with you PHI fans. I hate NYY almost more than anyone but you guys are beyond ridiculous if you cannot be objective and you cannot.
So let me get this straight.... PHI is better because they have the better starting pitcher. Okay lets look at the facts here genius. Pedro has historically never been good in Yankee Stadium, but unfortunately due to his time in NYM there isn't good recent numbers other than his last start on 06/27/08 when he lost 9-0 at NYM. He gave up six earned runs in 5 and 2/3 innings while also walking five. Well lets look at his last few starts in general then shall we: the smarter Pedro is 1-2 while giving up 3 runs in 3 innings and 3 runs in 4 innings before his one bright spot where he did pitch well against LAD going 7 innings of shut out baseball.
Okay now lets look at apparently the worst SP in Burnett. He pitched one game this year against PHI and gave up five runs in six inning on 05/22/09. His past starts have been pretty good going 2-1 and giving up 1 run in six, 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 and getting blasted in LAA when their back was against the wall of 6 runs in 6 innings.
All in all it appears to me that the pitching matchup favors NYY at home where Burnet for the season won 14 of 18 games total as opposed to Pedro on the road where he won 2 out of five.
Lets also not forget to remember that historically speaking in the WS when a team lost game one they are 27-14 in game two. If they are coming off a loss of 5 or more runs they
are 7-3. So those are powerful trends to look at.
As it relates to you have forgotten more about baseball then I will ever know. Ha ha ha. You don't know me or my knowledge but I have never seen you contribute anything to this forum other than you clear PHI biases. I am done trying to educate you. Go ahead and live in your dream world than in no circumstances could NYY win in NYY in game two.
