Matt Moore has a 1.38
ERA and 4-0 record vs. AL teams AWAY this season – including two wins @ BAL and
shutting out @ TEX, 2-0. DET hit just
.174 as a team vs. Moore in his last start.
Anibal is lights out at home, but TB is hitting .253 vs. Anibal in his 4
career starts in the series.
PIT (+145)
Locke has a 1.45 ERA
AWAY, including shutouts @ STL and @ PHI.
Locke is coming off shutting out DET in his last start. Minor is 0-1 in 2 career starts vs. PIT with
a 6.00 ERA in 12 IP. I love the price.
The Bad: Fading Dempster (BOS), Nolasco (MIA)
TEX (+118)
Dempster is just 1-5 in
8 starts at HOME and has given up 5 HR’s in his last 4 HOME starts. Grimm has turned in 3 quality starts for a
3-0 record in his last 3 games.
PHI (-156)
Nolasco allowed 3 HR’s
to PHI in the last Pettibone vs. Nolasco match-up last month, which ended in a PHI
4-1 W. Pettibone held MIA to 1 ER on 5 H
that game. Pettibone has a 2-1 record,
2.97 ERA at HOME in 5 starts. PHI has
defeated CIN (36-22), CLE (30-27), and PIT (35-23) with Pettibone on the mound
at HOME. MIA (16-42) should not be a
problem, especially after the drubbing MIA took last night.
The Ugly: Fading Lohse (MIL), Richard (SD)
OAK (-113)
Lohse is just 1-3 in 7
career starts vs. OAK with a 5.54 ERA and a .284 BAA. MIL has lost 8 of Lohse’s last 10
starts. OAK’s AWAY record (17-14) is much
better than MIL’s HOME record (12-18).
LAD (-135)
Lilly is 11-4 in 17
career starts vs. SD. Richard is 0-3 in
his 3 AWAY starts this season with a 9.56 ERA.
That’s not all. Richard’s 9.56
ERA was vs. the worst hitting teams in the MLB:
8-4 L @ NYM (30th in AVG), 5-3 L @ CHC (18th in
AVG), and 9-0 L @ SEA (26th in AVG).
I know LAD is the walking wounded right now, but it won’t take much to
score on Richard. Plus, SD is awful on
the road, 10-16.

I know you're not a fan of insight into games you haven't chosen
BUT, I want to get your opinion..
being that the Astros are on a winning streak going home (assuming they win tonight) , and the Os with the offence that they have, how do you they they matchup ?

Burnett's problem was giving up multiple homers tonight. Locke has allowed 0 HR's in his 5 AWAY starts (31 IP). To O/U enthusiasts: THIS total should go UNDER.

Harrell has been awful at home lately (6 ER in 1.2 IP vs. OAK, 8 ER in 4.1 IP vs. DET). I would lean BAL on the RL. Too much juice on the ML.

i think tampa is a cointoss. surely matt moore will regress. he was never an "ace" just performing really well lately and out performing. I still gotta give the offense and home court advantage to tigers.

I am not laying juice on Minor but Atl is 5-1 vs LHP at home this year. Here they are :
W 7-5 vs Phi ( C Hamels )
L 0-2 vs Phi ( C Lee )
W 8-1 vs Was ( G Gonzalez )
W 9-4 vs Nym ( J Niese )
W 8-5 vs Lad ( H Ryu )
W 3-1 vs Lad ( C Capuano )
They rocked Locke early in the year at Pit so you might want to re-think that.

You're probably right. If I lay anything on PIT, it will be for a value bet. The price is too good. I will avoid putting it in a parlay. Thanks for the info.

Your picks are leans at 1st? I don't post a pick unless I bet it myself 1st.
Locke lost at home in Teheran's start too. The worse of the 4 starters in that series at the time IMO. Hudson, Maholm and Medlen lost. Medlen got his payback tonight. They have not seen Minor yet this year as he seems to be the ace of the staff right now. I wish they would move Hudson to start game 3 or give that kid Alex Wood a start. Wood has been lights out in the Minors and has been called up and recently made his debut out of the pen.

I try to research and post as early as possible because I have to work early the next morning. Last night, I posted at 11:35 PM, halfway before the end of the last game. My sportsbook does not make the next day's MLB bets available until the last game is completed, so I cannot always place my bets before I post them. Besides, I would hope that no one blindly tails my picks either without thinking about the picks themselves. Unlike not having replay in MLB, isn't the point of the threads in this forum to work together to get the calls right in the end (before placing the bets)?
I don't have to lay money on any of my picks -- although I usually do. I really just enjoy researching, picking games, and helping others win money whenever I am correct.. I concede that I missed that crucial background info on the PIT/ATL match-up in my haste to get my picks posted before midnight. But I already posted it, so it's "official" for the sake of my June record. No one has to bet it. It's a free country. I'll probably lay off of it now.

Just wanted to say thanks for the insight......this site has about 50% decent readers who will take it for what its worth and make their plays accordingly......then 50% who just like to rain on everybody elses parade. Keep it up guy.....I like the reading.....and good luck to you.

wIth you on Tex and oak, thinking value bet on tb. Philly is my team and I struggle with evaluating them. probably going to fade hamels when he starts since he always loses to Miami.
I don't like the pit/ atl series.. I picked atl today and it worked, but I didn't touch it. I pick pit tomorrow but they probably lose. I do like the under, but I have no experience with o/u in mlb yet, so I may lay off that.
I'm liking the stats you guys are giving me on det vs lh/ Moore. liking the value on that.
loving Tex, dempster is terrible, and I live the odds I'm getting.
thanks for the insight, you're m ostly right in line with what I was planning

Just want to say thanks for your posts and daily thoughts. Your added to my must reads of the day. This is my first year betting baseball. I've learned alot from your posts.
You can become a quick learner from some of the posters around here and your one of them. Your posts have no BS and the posters also bring good info.
Went from down 10k in April in the baseball contest to -500 as of last night.
I started my own pool just just to track my own picks and I'm up a little over a 1000.
Just wanted to say thx for taking the time to post and for your insight.

thanks for grinding it out with us brother, and props to the pittsburgh nay sayer cuz i also am hesitant to back this atrocious offensive ball club. i said in another thread that it looks like the same old pirates ...start out with a nice record with a lights out bullpen, but the offensive ineptitude puts too much pressure on the pitching staff, and eventually they start to get lit up like a xmas tree. of course, now that ive said this pedro alvarez will probably go 4 for 4 and have 7 rbis
on another note, heres an FYI for u.
did u know that if u started with 100 bucks and bet on houston every game of their 6 game road trip sweep and rolled over all monies game to game, u would have 80.000. another words nearly +800 on the money line. shyt even starting with 20 bucks would have produced 16.000 dollars.. FML, why didnt i think of this
