Cubs (Garza) +120
- The Cardinals enter this contest having mustered only 3 hits in 7 shutout innings versus Edwin Jackson on Thursday and only getting to Villanueva for 2 earned in 6 innings last night. Tonight they'll face even stiffer competition in Matt Garza. Garza enters this contest having allowed no more than 1 earned run in four consecutive starts. The Cubs have won all four as Garza has been the winning pitcher in each. He owns a 1.20 ERA in his first two July starts. He'll pitch opposite Lance Lynn tonight. It has been a rough go of it on the road lately for Lynn. He has failed to record a quality start in four consecutive road starts, having allowed 5, 4, 7, and 4 earned in those starts. He owns a 5.03 ERA in 9 road starts this season, compared to his 2.44 home ERA. Lynn appears to be regressing as the season moves on as well. He posted a 3.10 ERA in April, a 2.77 ERA in May, a 4.83 ERA in June, and a 4.85 ERA in his first two starts this month. Before this series began, I had circled this game three as the best chance for the Cubs to get a win in this four game series. Chicago enters this contest having gone 4-1 this season in game threes of a series. They're 7-1 in their last 8 games following a loss. The Cardinals are just 6-9 in their last 15 on the road. I was able to lock this one in shortly after midnight at +120, the line now sits at Cubs +100. As a current Fresno State student, I'll gladly back the Bulldog alumni in Garza tonight. Him being the better hurler, at plus money, and at home only sweetens the pot.
