First off, this series has been one of the oddest ones I've seen in a while. It's almost as if both managers agreed that this would go 5. I'm kidding but if you look at some of the decisions that have been made in key moments, the only thing you can do is stare in awe at how dumb these managers are. I can give a ton of examples but yesterday it's almost as if Maddon conceeded the win by pitching to Zimmerman with 2 outs and first base open but then Dusty takes out Max after giving up one hit. Next at bat, tie game. Then rather than walking Rizzo with a base open, they pitch to him! Rizzo couldn't believe it nor could I specifically because Contreras was batting .150 in the series and in deck. Crazy game.
As for today, at first glance, people are jumping on the Cubs. Home game, "better pitcher", momentum, it all points to the Cubs right? Well, then why didn't the momentum point to the Nats after the dramatic game 2 win? See, you can't have it both ways. Momentum is a huge thing BUT in this year's playoffs, we've seen some crazy things. With the Dodgers ending their series last nite, both teams are going to want to win today but call me crazy, you'd have to think that both managers in the back of their heads, especially Maddons, will strategize at who they are gonna use today. With that being said, if this is a tight game, you can bet that Strasburg will be ready to go. For the Cubs, is it Lackey? It's not gonna be Hendricks because he has to go game 5 if there is one. We have yet to have a game where a +odds team has won and at -150, is this line ultra elevated? I mean what Arrieta done lately to support this line? Or is the line inflated because of the momentum the Cubs have gained, the idea it's in wrigley and the idea that the Nats are out of sorts with the Dusty debacle? If Roark can get through 4 today, Strasburg will go at least 2-3 innings no problem. If Arrieta falls behind early though, I don't see any heroics for the Cubs. This is the only series where I have no idea what will happen. I will say this though: if people are going to look at the obvious variables today and immediately place their bet on the Cubs, maybe that's the intent of the line. I want a game 5. I want to see Lester against Gio in Washington; it would be great for baseball. Right now, I lean slightly towards the Nats but we have some time to see where this line moves. ANYBODY THOUGHTS?

Value is always a great thing but in terms of the actual game itself, is Arrieta that much better of a pitcher than Roark LATELY. I firmly believe these two teams are equals and aside from a few breaths here and there, this could be a 2-1 Nats series lead. Everybody is down on Dusty and rightfully so with the boneheaded move in taking Max out but the series isn't over. I've listened to cubs fans and media since yesterday's win and the feel is that this series is already over. Not so sure about that.

Maddox's worst decision - taking out a dominant Quintana after 95ish pitches and 2 outs after Schwarber flubbed a routine fly ball. Next batter - double, Nats take 1-0 lead

I've kept a close eye on the RL, ML and total for this game tonite and I've seen the RL go from +140 Cubs to +120 Cubs. It seems as if the consensus believe the Cubs run away with this one tonite. Very interesting; no surprise whatsoever though.

Not sure just yet which side. I had DBacks last nite but decided to lay off and that was the smart move. As for today, it's hard to pick a side because of the poor managing I've seen in the last few games. The managers are so overrated it's comical yet people think Maddon is this guru....Cubs should have 100% lost that game yesterday but then you have dusty make the call of taking out max. I think those who are taking the Cubs solely because of Arrieta vs Roark are making a huge mistake. Strasburg will be ready to go tonite and there will definitely be a sense of urgency for the Nats to get this game back to Washington. The bats of the Cubs are more alive yet with the wind blowing in tonite and the rain, anything can happen. I think this one comes down to pitcher 2 for each team. I think both starters will cancel themselves out early.

Do you or anyone else have an idea for the total (7.5 at my book). Seems like the under is the best value given the trends between these two teams and the weather right now but most of the piblic on the over?

Trends are great but trends go out the window with errors, bad managing and a home run or two. Wind blowing in, rain, it scream under but not so sure we don't get. 5-3 game tonite. Toss up for me.

As with any wager, anything can happen. Interesting stat for the under tho: under is 8-1 when Nats are underdogs of +125 - +175 this year and 23-8 over the last three seasons. Ill take a stab at it and I think the Nats steal this one and take it back to Washington. GL to all!

Achilles what's up bud? You make a great case on both side and value for the money I personally think it is on the nationals because it will come down to the pitching after the starters and from their it's all a toss up with both teams being equal. Over and under? I have seen games with on and off rain and howling winds blowing in at 40 mph before and you know what? It went way over the posted total plus the Lines are adjusted accordingly and you still remain with a crap shoot. You could also hold out on your game time play and see how it starts to play out and grab a juicy Live plus money line which is what I did immediately when Washington took that 1-0 lead yesterday and got the Cubs+162 could of very easily lost also but the chance with those odds I was willing to take the cubs prevailed. Good luck today bud and yeah I liked the Diamondbacks also last night and like you laid off and glad I did and that comment about people thinking Joe Maddon is the $hit is so true

Word is.....Max told Dusty today that he would be ready to pitch out of the pen tonite. Take that for whatever it's worth. If he's ready then you know Strasburg will be.

So the more I hear Cubs fans in being a Chicagoan, it's insane what I'm hearing. I mean to so many, game 4 doesn't even need to be played. Arrieta on the mound, Cubs steal a win from Scherzer, Dusty being dusty....slam dunk win for the Cubs apparently. Now we hear the storyline of the Nats being sick and Strasburg not being able to go.....and Dusty sticking with Rourke. Again, Cubs fans are so overconfident it's nuts. I honestly don't get it....did anyone watch game 2? The choke job by the Cubs? Did anyone watch game 3 up until Dusty took Scherzer out? I totally understand the bats of the Nats are asleep but what's in the past is in the past. It's done. Game 4 is what matters now.
There is absolutely no way that this extra day of rest will help the Cubs MORE than the Nats. This clearly benefits the Nats; you can't argue that. If people honestly think we don't see either a Strasburg or maybe even Max, who the Cubs haven't really touched yet, I can't get the crazies. If you want to rely on the media to tell you what's gonna happen with the Nats, go for it. I'm not an idiot though. People think the nerves are gonna pile up on the Nats? Why? They are expected to lose. The media has closed the book on them and the Cubs fans have already stamped their ticket to LA. Werth at the two hole, Harper not healthy, rourke, Rourke, road game.....can the common sense people in here understand that regardless of who wins this game, the game will be won in the field today and not by stats from games 1-3 and from managing mistakes? I'm leaning Nats purely because aside from the the Warriors/Cavs Finajs two years ago, I don't think I've seen a collective group so overconfident about a team. It would be so funny to see the consensus before game 5 IF the Nats can win game 4. We'll hear a completely different storyline. Can't wait for this game today. Expect the unexpected!

Taking the under today, amigo. Don't expect much action coming from this came in my opinion. GL on your plays
No team is as good as it looks when winning nor are they as bad as they look when losing

I knew this was coming and I'm sure it was planned....we have two brand new covers members here with post 1 and post 2. One in the Nats, one on the Cubs. Gotta love it.

BigBen:I never said that, did I? Kind of defensive huh? I've just seen this game way too many times buddy. The new guys coming out of the wood works in the playoffs- I always wonder the intentions, that's it. As for knowing more than you, stay a while rather than what the usual "new guy" does in just posting a few games and then disappearing. It speaks volumes to what the true intentions are of that kind when they do that. Enjoy your stay bud.

You were certainly insinuating it. You've seen what too many times? People joining a free website? Is there a problem with joining a website during the MLB postseason? Who cares what my intentions are? I can see your hall monitor around here. It didn't take me too long to figure that one out.

Hall monitor, no. Rather than insinuate anything, I will just be honest. 8 out of 10 guys who sign up during the playoffs are touts. All the vets know it too but it's the newer folks who don't who get lured in to the bs. I can smell yours a mile away though......Are you one? No idea but we'll find out won't we. If you aren't no need to get your undies in a wad bud. Post your plays and move on. I could care less what your intentions are and why you signed up. All I pointed out was that it was your first post; you took it to the level of asking if I knew more than you. I'm moving on so good luck to you.

I would lean Nats here since it seems like they are the ones going all in ( although I'm shocked Dusty isn't going with Stras here, which tells me Roark will have the quick hook should he get into any trouble). Max saying he is available is also a sign they are willing to do whatever it takes to get back home and hand the ball to Gio and see what happens
Arrieta hasn't pitched in weeks and I don't think he is coming in here and mowing this lineup down. At plus odds I think the value is on the Nats.
